Air New Zealand Air Points - NZ2 - Check in desk opening times at LAX?

I'm on the 16:40 flight to LHR on Saturday afternoon and plan to get to the airport reasonably early. At what time do the check in desks open for NZ2?

Probably 3 hours or so before departure, maybe a bit earlier than that.

It's been a while, but I think it is exactly 3 hours before departure (so 13.40).

I have (not-so-fond) memories of turning up early and having to sit and guard my bags for 2 hours :(

Amazing. I know for a fact that there a people out there (yeah, Germans, who else?) who are addicted to traffic jams. They actively seek them out, then drive there in their cars.

But people who are addicted to lines? That's a new one... :D

Its the infrequent leisure pax. The airlines keep telling them they have to check in really early and expect big delays.

Similar happens with the early morning trans-tasman flights (NZ->Oz). Immigration and the bank where you pay departure tax both only open at 4:30am (for flights around 6am) - but there are huge queues from about 4am. Why? Because the airlines say you should check in more than 2 hours before departure. :rolleyes:

I am pretty sure the NZ check in desks at LAX open at 1pm..at least last time i was there.

In my case, flight at 16:40, check in desks opened at 13:30. I turned up at 12:30 (simply because eviction time at the hotel was 12:00) and had to wait an hour. By 13:30, there was a very long line for the economy class check in desks (yes, at times like this I really appreciate the shiny *A plastic).
