Has anyone else noticed that all of the Hilton family has recently changed their pens? They used to be nice Bic Round Stics, now they're all Papermate. I wonder how much cost savings this really could have generated....

BigLar May 5, 06, 9:29 am Jeez, have we sunk this low? :) I'm starting to worry whether they'll still be using Dixie cups in the bathrooms. JDiver May 5, 06, 10:26 am Go Papermate! Woot, woot!   AA2070 May 5, 06, 10:28 am I like the new pens better than the Bic round stics. Maybe, but you can't use the papermates for shooting spitballs ;-) I collect them from my hotel stays and give them to a local summer camp who can never seem to find anything to write with, so spitballs are a major use for these! infinityplusone May 5, 06, 8:23 pm Wirelessly posted (My IV to the Net: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry7250/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) Just think you are no longer contributing to the deliquency of minors. ;) I prefer the Bics only because I can chew them (after steralization of course), ypu can't really get a good chew on the Papermates. I would rank this for me in importance just above who becomes the next President. Canarsie May 5, 06, 9:32 pm The black pens Hilton used before the Bic pens were virtually useless. I wasn't going to say it, but since you blazed the path... I'm also a chewer, and the papermates just don't cut it. The bic has that nice soft plasticy feel to it... I would think something like this would be up to the franchisee since the pens usually have the specific hotel name on them. I think that if a property changes anything at all then some guests will like it and others will not. ronin May 7, 06, 5:34 am The black pens, such as from the ES, are not very good. The white transparent ones however are very nice. jabez May 7, 06, 7:02 am I've got to admit this thread brought a smile to my face. I wonder what non Hilton "fanatics" would think about a thread this long about cheap pens. :D DawgmanOH May 8, 06, 6:35 am Personally, I like the Hampton Inn pens best of all. But that's just me. cfischer May 8, 06, 6:47 am The black pens Hilton used before the Bic pens were virtually useless. the new ones look pretty cheap too, I took one yesterday but haven't tried it yet ;) . infinityplusone May 8, 06, 9:20 am I'm just surprised that anyone noticed. I would think something like this would be up to the franchisee since the pens usually have the specific hotel name on them. I always thought that the cookie-cutter properties had the generic pens. Ie, only has "Hampton Inn & Suites" on them. While non-cookie-cutter properties would have location specific branding on the pens. Ie, "The Drake Chicago, IL" or "Palmer House Chicago, IL". Granted I don't pay much attention to what is actually written on the pen, just as long as the pen's ink flows and I can chew on it without breaking my teeth. ;) big4consultant May 8, 06, 1:15 pm As a Hilton fanatic (or maybe just below the level of fanatic) you guys are all crazy. :D cordelli May 8, 06, 8:48 pm I use to work at a bank, and we went through pens like you wouldn't believe. For us it was calling in the supply order and asking for a gross of stick pens or whatever we wanted, not saying a gross of bic cases, or gross of this one, whatever they had that was cheaper. Not sure they are switching brands, but their supplier may be. |
