Hilton HHonors - HH Amex CC - how long for points to post?

My account closes on 5/7 and I am needing the initial 10K bonus, as well as applicable charges to post. How long does that usually take, or is it longer based on the fact that it's the first billing statement? I am needing to redeem for a large award, so am wondering whether I should just transfer my AA miles to HH points if it'll take awhile. Thanks!

Mine usually posts in just a couple of days after the statement date. The 10k bonus should post at the same time, but I can't guarantee it.

I concur. My points usually appear within 5 days of the statement closing. The initial 10k bonus though may not appear until after the first statement. So I wouldn't absolutely rely on it posting in time.

I have heard that you can call the HH desk and ask them to reserve the Award room for you even though you don't yet have the points in your account. This may help you if the award stay is not too soon.

I also heard this is possible so I checked with the award redeemption desk when I called couple of days ago. The answer they gave me is yes we can reserve the award stay even there is not enough points yet. Just to make sure to have enough points/certificates by the time of CHECK-IN. I think this is really nice as many hotels will need more points to stay soon and we can make the reservation now with the current point even not enough points in the "bank".

Well, I don't know if that will work as I am needing it for a vacation award in which the reward code is going away soon.

However, on an unrelated note, are we able to combine points to get to a large award? For ex, I need 250K...before I start transferring AA miles to my HH account, if I were to trade with someone and they would be offering like 80K...would we be able to have the Reservations office take 170k from my account and 80K from someone else's account (of course we'll both authorize it)? Or would that constitute a points transfer and would require the hefty fee imposed by HH?
