I have stayed here once on a Diamond force for one night. The property was OK but seemed slightly tired and rough around the edges. Hua Hin itself is something of an acquired taste (and not necessarily my thing). If you pay to stay here you will almost certainly regret not staying at the far better looking Sofitel Central next door.

Regular rooms (as I had) were OK and had been slightly renovated (if you have been to the Mariott Pattaya the rooms are broadly similar). The balconies etc. are good though.

No lounge so that isn't an option, and I did not have breakfast so cannot report upon that. Personally I think this property is poor value for money in a resort which is quite cheap. Better options exist, if you must stay at a Hilton try the Arcadia in Phuket (an infinitely better property at a lower rate).

Stayed two weeks ago as Gold and was treated very very well; upgraded from std room to (deluxe plus?) a very large room with large sitting area and magnificent sea view with large balcony - water, fruit, chocolate cake provided - service excellent - public areas are very nice - room appeared renovated in last few years was stylish - bathroom good - not great - but did have large double jacuzzi bath. Bars/restaurants all good - especially the Hua Hin Brewing Company attached to the hotel - good al fresco dining and a popular spot. Breakfast (also complimentary as Gold) was very extensive and decent enough (for a Hilton ;) The pool area was a bit "concrete" but fine.

Yes, the Sofitel is dfeinately 5* and Hilton is 4* but no complaints here ^
Hope this helps?

Interesting to see other experiences I am guessing that was the gulf room which is much larger than the regular room. Perhaps I should try this property again, I never did make the Hua Hin Brewing Company which sounds like an "interesting" place from the reports I have read ;)

The rooms are either Gulf or Bay depending on which direction the room faces.

While I cant remember the exact classification of this room type, I believe NoY was upgraded to one of those room next to the glass lift shaft. Its like a junior suite with a spacious sitting area in one corner, and theres only one such room on each floor. I believe this room also comes with a CD player like the pacific suites. If privacy is high on your priorities, this room may not be suitable as its very close to the glass lift.

you are right it was one of those rooms - CD/DVD etc. and very spacious - close to lift but really no privacy problems - you'd really have to look hard to spy in ;)

Stayed at the Hua Hin Hilton for 2 nights (usually I prefer Marriotts but the location of the Hilton is much better). Standard room (Bay room) but large enough and nice, friendly service, excellent views. Booked through German travel site which brought the price down to 62 Euro incl. breakfast for two. The Gulf rooms are the larger ones with around 60sqm (including balcony).
