Hilton HHonors - No Downgrade for Comp Gold!

View Full Version : No Downgrade for Comp Gold!

So all of us Golds who received status through the many free promos over the last 2 years were awaiting downgrades effective May 1, especially after all of the form letter correspondence pertaining to the Chairman's Card promo etc.

Lo and behold May 1 arrives and my account still reads Gold VIP! My rolling tier qualification is X nights (+ X priceline), so I definitely didn't earn it. But to HHonors I say many thanks and I will continue to stay at Hilton as travel permits.

Hopefully the system update doesn't take a week and this is not posted prematurely :(

P.S. would have dug up the original thread but search seems to be down.

JOHN, Take a pill. :)

Here's a translation for you:

If you think your comp Gold status should have dropped after 5/1/06, check your online account status. You may be pleasantly surprised...

Why be foolish about advertising a status you should no longer have.

Thanks for the clarification I interpreted the original post a little bit differently. :p

My reply was only a suggestion. In addition to the main thought of the thread there are a lot of specifics (if they are correct) that may lead to a correction that may have otherwise not been noticed.

Thanks for your concern (sarc). I really think Hilton has better things for their employees to do than troll internet message boards looking for people to downgrade. But to assuage your paranoia I have modified the original post.

The purpose was to suggest that the whole "downgrade" issue may be a red hering. My guess is that HHonors decided to "reward" customers who actually patronized Hilton by permitting them to retain status. But who know - maybe some of us just fell through the cracks. In any case, I think some people will be happy to continue receiving the benefits (limited as they are) and will continue to patronize Hilton.

Why be foolish about advertising a status you should no longer have.

No more foolish than the original posts which pointed the way for everyone to sign up for Comp Gold status.

My status also went from Gold to Silver on schedule. A shame really, since I used the comped status to stay at a Hilton property every chance I got during the period. It just wasn't quite enough.
