Does anyone have any info on this hotel? According to the Hilton web site, This hotel will be joining the Hilton Family but is not yet accepting reservations. It is scheduled to open in June 2006. It has a nice description, and I'm wondering if it be worth trying it out for a conference the first week of August.

I found the answer to part of this myself - the hotel is currently the Wyndham Boston, but will become a Hilton property shortly.

If this is the Wyndham on Broad street, it should be a pretty decent property. Near to Fanieul Hall, Old State House, financial district and some evening entertainment. Stayed here once as a Wyndham and iirc, it was an all suite property with an open dining room on the first floor and the reception desk kind of tucked away by the elevators.

If it is the Tremont Wyndham, I believe it was turned into a Marriot Courtyard and now Hilton has acquired it ????? It has had some problems, is fairly old but is in the theatre district, which is not eveyone's cup of tea.

then that will be a nice choice for those who don't want to be at Copley or the Airport as the DT Washington plays to only mixed reviews.

That's interesting information. The hotel has some very nice rooms. However, there's no pool, I hear the gym is a bit of a joke and is in the basement, and room service can be excruciatingly slow.

That Wyndham also has relatively small rooms, but nice ones. The only problem I ever had there was that the elevators took FOREVER to get to any floors, and you can't use the stairs to go from one floor to another because they lock behind you.

Boston's First Skyscraper Becomes the New Hilton Boston Financial District
Wednesday June 14, 12:38 pm ET
Art Deco Gem Offers Upscale Amenities and Attentive Service Within Walking Distance of Boston's Most Famous Landmarks

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2006--Hilton Hotels (NYSE:HLT - News) has announced that Boston's first skyscraper is playing a role in today's news by becoming the Hilton Boston Financial District, an upscale 362-room hotel that serves as a beacon for the exciting redevelopment of the neighborhood. Built in 1928 and located at 89 Broad Street, the Hilton Boston Financial District sits at the heart of the city's Crossroads Initiative, which aims to make Boston an even more pedestrian-friendly city. Broad Street is the first of 12 streets earmarked for improvement, beautification and re-development by Mayor Thomas Menino and the Boston Redevelopment Authority. The hotel is steps to Boston's premier financial institutions and one block to the waterfront. Neighbors include Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall, Post Office Square, Downtown Crossing, the Freedom Trail and the New England Aquarium, making it an ideal destination for a weekend getaway filled with shopping, dining and touring.

The Hilton Boston Financial District is owned and operated by W-Boston, LLC under a franchise license agreement with Hilton Inns, Inc., a franchising subsidiary of Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels Corporation. The hotel is managed by Columbia Sussex Corporation.

"The Hilton Boston Financial District continues our legacy of offering hotels of cultural and historical significance that are designed to help our guests enjoy all of the enriching experiences that travel can offer," said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president, Hilton brand management. "We are proud to welcome this landmark hotel into the Hilton brand."

Designed by the artist and architect Harold Field Kellogg, the 14-story art deco gem is known for its innovative use of color, texture and height. Thirty-eight shades of brick comprise the exterior, beginning with a dark brown at the base and progressing to a light buff at the top. The shaded brick creates an enhanced sense of height and light, lending the impression that the sun is always shining on the building.

Underscored by arched entries and decorative terra cotta, the building features artwork that symbolizes America's progress in the Industrial Age, including an eagle, a covered wagon, the Saugus Iron Works, two locomotives, an oil rig and an airplane. The decorative terra cotta continues to the third and fourth floors of the central tower, depicting Boston's sacred cod, a bean pot and the Book of Learning. The art deco style carries into the lobby and library of the hotel with sconces, brass detailing and the original terrazzo floor.

Each of the 362 spacious guestrooms, of which 67 are suites, is furnished with the new Hilton Serenity Bed, which features the Serta Suite Dreams® mattress and box springs, Pacific Coast® down duvet, Super Topper mattress pads, and high-quality linens and pillows. All rooms also have the Hilton Serenity Bath Collection, featuring the exclusive Crabtree & Evelyn line of La Source® bath amenities, and the easy-to-set Hilton Family alarm clock with MP3 player connectivity.

The hotel offers wired high-speed internet in the guestrooms, wireless internet (WiFi) in public areas and a state-of-the-art business center. Fitness-conscious guests can take advantage of the fitness center and the Hilton Eat Right® menu, which offers delicious and nutritionally-balanced meal options.

Caliterra is the hotel's dining room, featuring a lively after-work lounge and dinner destination. Offering specialties from Italy's most bountiful regions, the menu bursts with flavor and regional flair. Caliterra also offers a private dining room and an extensive wine list. The hotel offers 10,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 1,900 square-foot ballroom and individual meeting and dining rooms that can be configured to accommodate from eight to 200 guests.

Travelers staying at this hotel have the opportunity to participate in the Hilton HHonors® guest reward program, allowing guests to earn both hotel points and airline miles for the same stay at more than 2,800 hotels worldwide.

This is the former Wyndham and is a nice hotel. As this thread says http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=553878 some find the rooms small and there is no pool. I have stayed twice while it was a Wyndham and had suites both times, so i thought it was an allsuite hotel, but apparently it isn't. Still 67 of 362 rooms should provide some decent upgrades (Yeah, I know suite upgrades are not an elite benefit.) This is a nice location in you have business on Beacon Hill or if you want to visit Quincy market or the Aquarium. Any word on an exec lounge?

My partner just checked into this hotel property (89 Broad Street). It the rooms are all suites, that's what's offered to Diamonds online. Large room with living room and dining room. She said it's very nice. Only amenity seems to be continental breakfast. There's no lounge.

Strange thing is that when she booked, this property was almost $100 less than the DT by UNE/Chinatown.

I'm on my second stay here, and really do enjoy the property. Great location and nice-sized rooms. Upgraded to a suite today, and a room service waitress just knocked on my door with a little plate of truffles and chocolate-covered strawberries. Man, I love being a Diamond sometimes :D

I stayed for 2 nights, 2 weeks ago. It's all right -not great, but all right. Stayed Hhon floor -room not much daylight, no view but spacious and quiet. Breakfast was usual, with some frills. Location perfect, for me, but the need to valet park does add to cost.
I'd stay again, probably even if I was paying myself.

Does anyone know the closest subway station to this hotel? And on which line?

I never rent a car or taxi into the city any more.

Both the Blue Line Aquarium and State Street stops are just a few minutes walk. http://www.mbta.com/rider_tools/servicenearby/?sa=89+Broad+St%2C+Boston%2C+MA+02110&sLocation=&selectedPoint=42.362793%2C-71.046696&sDate=8%2F24%2F2007&Hour=12&Minute=00&AMPM=PM&subway_stations=

You can walk a bit to Downtown Crossing or Government center but with bags that is a bit of a workout, especially dealing with the stairs at Government center.

Thanks much for the local knowledge. I tried to use the MBTA Trip Planner before and was frustrated. Will give it another go.

And Downtown Crossing isn't always roller bag friendly depending on which exit one takes. I use when I stay at the Hyatt. Anyway, Blue Line is handiest from Logan.

I stayed at this hotel for the first time this past Memorial Day weekend, and am going back next weekend (Labor Day).

The location of the hotel is very good, unless you want nightlife on a holiday weekend :). But it is actually just a short walk to Faneuil Hall, et al. and a bit farther to the North End, so nightlife is not too far away. The up side is that it is very quiet. The hotel is older (but has been redone, so nice (if smallish) bathrooms, etc.) and has a lot of various-sized rooms, but most seem to be large and there are many suites. I am "only" Gold but was upgraded to a very nice two-room suite (1027), with living/dining (with wetbar) and separate BR. The breakfast buffet (cold is free for G/D, hot was $3 or $4 more, I think) was OK (I'm not a big breakfast eater so the cold was adequate for me). It is kind of dark, as it is surrounded by highrises on narrow Bostonian streets, and there is definitely no view from the rooms.

I have a photo of the floorplan here: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/249/520301407_01cad02cb8_o.jpg to help y'all with room selections.

I had a 2-night stay last week. Upgraded to a suite (Rm 617), very spacious, and surprising, since the hotel was very busy (or perhaps that was why I got the upgrade). Small fruit bowl waiting, plus got two water bottles/day. Breakfest coupons were good for the hot buffet, so this may be a change. (Unlike certs used at other Hiltons, this one included "gratuity NOT included."). They seem to have lots of suites, and regular rooms are much larger than, e.g., Backbay Hilton. Used the subway at Government Center, saved one transfer, and only a 12-min walk to the hotel. And as indicated above, great spot if you are into the tourist thing.
No airport shuttle, but taxi was less than $20. Blue line not currently going to airport directly - have to transfer to buses, which stops at the remaining T stops. Was told this would continue into Oct.

OT but relevant to this thread - The blue line never goes directly to the terminals at Logan. The Airport station is not within walking distance from the terminals and you have to transfer to buses anyway. The Silver Line to South Station is more convenient - it stops at every terminal and you can either walk to your hotel from South Station or get a cheap cab ride - without the ridiculous airport and toll surcharges.

Correct. However, the blue line currently makes you transfer to buses about 5 stops BEFORE the airport station. It is correct that you again need to take another bus to the terminals.

I just returned from a two night stay at the Hilton - it was a very nice hotel, in a great location. Service was FANTASTIC. We also had a great meal at the restaurant the night we arrived, since we arrived a bit later than we expected.

I have not stayed at the Hyatt, however, I lived in Boston for many years and the location of the Hilton is much better than the Hyatt in my opinion.

I am staying here next week - does anybody have experience with taking a ferry or water taxi from the airport to Long Wharf (Aquarium area) and then walking to the hotel? Thought it would be more scenic than the subway from the airport since I am arriving mid morning.
