Hi,

I need some help choosing a resort for my first trip to Thailand in Dec. The flights are already booked, so we arrive on the 19th and depart on the 29th but I just don't know where to go.

The weather is very important as this is the only time of year I can take a decent holiday and friends have said the weather varies between the main resorts - one side of Thailand being hotter than the other and vice versa depending on time of year.

Can anyone help as my choice of resorts are Krabi, Koh Samui and Phuket but I'm also open to suggestions.

Hotel recommendations would also be great as I just want to be pampered and eat great food, with a little sight seeing on the side.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

The Andaman Sea side of the peninsula has much better weather that time of year. The average rainfall for Phuket in December is only two inches and only one inch in January (compared to 17 inches in Sept.) - so it is prime season. The sea is calm and clear and excellent for diving snorkeling and swimming at that time.

Obviously, I am a Phuket fan - I live here! But, when I go on vacation - I go to Khao Lak - on the mainland about an hour north of Phuket. Even better beautiful beaches (in my opinion).

There - I am a big fan of two places - the Similana (low cost - but excellent) and The Sarojin (http://khaolaklovers.com/sarojin.htm) out on Cape Pakarang. Unusual and extraordinary - and 5 Star.

Tedkarma,

Thanks so much for your reply and for helping me choose between the various resorts.

Now its down to Phuket, Krabi and Khao Lak and I already had the Sarojin on my list, so I'm pleased you mentioned it. Any views on the Tubkaak, Central Krabi Bay Resort and the Nakamanda Resort?
