I have a ticket (Q) I'd like to change to LIM in May. Can I not cancel my current ticket (I now have that as a credit if I do the cancellation) and use it to buy another ticket to LIM (incurring any service charges)? I was told I cannot do this, I could if it were some North American ticket, but not an international ticket.

Your best bet is to bring the tkt to an AC ticket counter or a travel agent - international fare rules vary and it would be difficult for anyone to say without having a look at the ticket.

Even better than running to an airport, is to first call whoever sold you the actual ticket for initial information.
