S.P.A.M. - Has anyone redeemed their MyCokeRewards points?

panicked

I didn't read the T&Cs closely enough, and didn't realize that you have to be in physical possession of the caps for 90 days after redeeming your cap codes for a prize. I'm close to the 400 point mark, but no caps to show for it. I'm hoping that for the smallish prizes that I'm interested in, they won't want to see physical proof of my caps.

If anyone has already redeemed their caps, can you attest to whether or not Coke wanted to see the caps? I'm guessing it varies by the point level of the prize you're redeeming for, so if you could post the number of points you redeemed, and whether or not they "audited" you, that would be great.

Thanks!

Katie

Apart from the Delta/Hilton rewards which other awards look attractive? I was interested in the Sony gift certificates until I read that only one gift certificate could be applied to an order.

Also does anyone know if the rewards will run out during the promotion?

I haven't decided what I'm going for yet, but I'm interested in the regular and portable DVD players, PSP, Delta/HHonors, and potentially the SonyStyle and the Spafinder gift certs (which are currently out of stock). It seems like they're still adding rewards, so I'm keeping my options open for now.

Every Saturday my son has soccer at a spors complex near my house, and the cans are full of caps. My son still refuses look at me, but he is 11 so pretty much no matter I do he'd act that way.

Before you go crazy and buy hundreds of caps on eBay, remember that you can only redeem 10 cap codes a day. I haven't seen anything besides the 20 oz. bottles that have the promotional caps around here, even though they claim that other sizes (2 L, etc.) are part of the promotion. I was reading that someone did the math and if you redeemed the maximum number of caps every single day of the promotion, you would only squeak by on the amount of points for the maximum awards, so do the math on the award you want and make sure it is "in reach".

I was monitoring the MyCokeRewards site for a month now and collecting caps. I haven't done anything drastic to get caps but the hotel I stayed at in Burbank actually sold Diet Coke 20oz bottles for $1 so I accumulated some red caps.

I registered my e-mail address over the weekend and created my Wishlist for the 500 HHonors points for 30 Coke Cap points. But did not enter in any codes (waiting for a double point day). My balance was 0

I logged in today and had a balance of 5 and the 500 HHonors points was now 40 Coke Cap points.

My 2 cents:

* The 12-pack codes must be on their way across the country (not here in Orlando yet)
* A double point day might be nearer
* Caps being sold on eBay might be allowing for some unexpected early higher value reward redemption versus the expected smaller rewards

Regarding Buying Caps on eBay and retaining caps for 90 days:

* Sure you can purchase caps, but do any of these auctions state that they haven't been entered into someone's account for redemption before being re-sold?

* I am sure they are also preventing against the potential that someone cracks their code bottle numbering system and legimate people purchasing Coke products for the MyRewards program are given an error saying "code already used" or some variation

I think that Coke is seeing a much higher redemption rate than they were expecting which is why they are raising the points. At this rate I expect awards to be sold out too.

A lot of people seem to be wondering where the extra 5 points came from in their accounts - easy answer: I got an e-mail (in my junk box) saying that they were giving me 5 free points.

As for the devaluation, it stinks, but what can you do, it happens. :(

How soon do the 5 bonus points usually post?

On an unrelated note, are the caps usually a different color (red vs the normal white)? Just so I can spot them pretty easily.

I for one, wrote to coke at mycokerewards.general@na.ko.com and expressed my horror at finding the hilton awards increasing by 50%, a rate faster than gasoline..... Delta increased as well. I told them that I thought it was a huge mistake to change the rules midstream, the 5 point "Bonus" was not going to make up for it, and that I for one would be making 1 redemption and then switching to Diet Pepsi.

I think if all Flyertalkers wrote to them right away, they might make an adjustment back down to the earlier levels. It worked with Rewards Network/Idine, so it is worth a try.

I'm in the same boat. The link they give you says it will take 7-10 business days. I'm at 10 calendar days now, so I'll wait a few more days to see what happens. There is a link in the "coupon" they sent you for contacting them about the reward.

has been great! With a few folks at work collecting them for me, I have been able to enter 10 codes a day and redeem them for 500 HH points. Was definately bummed when they raised the award to 40 points but I was able to get 14 redemptions in before the raise. I am seeing the 12 packs with codes on regular Coke, Coke Zero, and Caffiene Free Diet Coke in St. Louis now. I need to buy a few of these just so I can keep up with one HH redemption a day. If I can keep the pace, I figure on 105,000 HH points by end of year.

Three reasons not to hold them:

- they just increased the prices, so I'm glad I've been redeeming as I go.
- the higher-amount awards for what I want (HHonors points) are little or no better than the minimum award
- that little note on my wish list that says whether or not the award is in stock.

In other words: 500 points in my account are worth 1,000 in the aether.

yamonjon
Apr 30, 06, 10:15 pm
as he listed the same reasons I redeem right away. I will add that I also get them now when I really need them - I need 20K by end of May. I will note that I have seen a slower posting rate on HH site the past 2 weeks as the earlier redemptions. Hmmm...

PS: I am saving all of my caps as well as 12 pack codes. I read the T&Cs carefully when I first joined (I am a Referee in numerous sports and I always need to know the rules) and thought that since I will be redeeming often for the same award, they may want to check me out. I'm ready for them!!!

At only 10 caps per day, the most you can earn in a year is about 11,000 points. Why are the offering prizes at 28,000 points if the promo ends 1/15/07? I know they could extend it or offer double points, but it seems a little strange to be throwing these things out there.

Bottel caps give 3 points, but the 12-packs give 10 points, so potentially one can earn more than 11,000 points.

Yep. As several others have reported, my Hilton Honors points were deposited in my account without any confirmation. I guess this is a nice feature, as long as they are correctly matching accounts. It took around 30 hours for the points to post to my HHonors account after I redeemed the prize at the Coke site.

There is now a "tell a friend" opportunity. When they join and redeem 50 points, you get 10. But it works by entering the friends' names and email addresses, rather than by a referral URL. Ah well, probly not many people here who are not already participating.

The MyCokeRewards T & C indicate that "At various times during the Program, Sponsor will declare “Double Points” periods."

As this program has been running since the end of February, I'm hoping someone has already experienced one of these Double Points periods. If so, can you please tell us if you get any advance warning, and how the long the bonus period lasts? Is it just one day, or several days?

BTW, Wegman's in Fairfax, VA has the 12 pack of cans stacked halfway to the ceiling. No red-cap bottles of any kind, though.

IMO, this is to give the masses false hope that they can save up for the big prizes, and that the promotion is worth more than it actually is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm going for the Hilton points as I accumulate slowly, but I don't have any hope of the larger prizes.

One bit of news...
The Taylormade gift cards are via a marketing firm that does incentive rewards. They had originally not allowed combining of their $25, $50, $100 or $500 "gift cards" (which aren't really gift cards, but may be redeemed on their site). They had been getting a tremendous amount of flak for that, especially as the $50 and $100 levels ran out. As of about 10 days ago, one can NOW CALL RYMAX Marketing and use multiple cards for a larger order. I applaud them (and the pressure on Coke) for relaxing this. I got this info directly from RYMAX customer service phone staff.

One also cannot see the items available or the points/$ required until you "redeem" Coke points. All items are $9 (in points) shipping. There is also sales tax in 6 states, but no way to pay it separately. For example, if you order a $16 box of balls + $9 shipping, and have $1-$3 sales tax, you will get a bill / invoice for it with the shipment then. So what if someone doesn't ante up? Technically you should have another gift card to use toward that (and then toss away the rest of the value on that one???? Now at least it can be combined in another order)

There is also no provision for "bill to / mail to", meaning that they don't take into consideration the possibility that one may be shopping for a present, and sending it ELSEWHERE. Wouldn't that be lovely for the recipient to get a bill for the balance?

Again, they have taken the first step now that only the low and high-value "gift cards" for their site are left, but combinability if you call them, and I think they are learning as they go along.

After just missing the 5000 Skymiles by about 4 hours, I started cashing in the 800 points that I had accumulated. Got a dozen golf balls from the Taylormade $25 cert and the Coke Sling Backpack. The backpack went out of stock for about a week but noticed yesterday it is back. It is actually a nice little backpack for 265 points. Comes with an interior pocket for a Music Player (even a CD player will fit) and it is a convenient size (but a Laptop will not fit!) We plan to use it for a day pack on a cruise. But it would probably be a good pack for a student.

I can't find it now either, guess it's sold out. I had it in my wishlist and ordered it after I got a "low inventory" warning from Coke. According to my email confirmation, the item was a "Coke Key Tag W/Bottle Opener - Sliver." Maybe it was a promotion to generate traffic to the site...

I happened to be on the site wondering what to do with the 500 or so points I had when I saw "Sony DSC-T30 camera: 400 points". I figured it was wrong since they have listed individual Sony PSP games as "Sony PSP system".

Not this time. I got a Sony DSC-T30 Cybershot digital camera (7.2MP, 3x optical zoom) for a measly 400 points. I went through the checkout process in lightning speed just in case they pulled it. It must have been a mistake. This should have brought at least 2500 points.

It arrived within a few days and I am SO happy with it. I'm hoping something like this happens again! BTW...there are vending machine guys on various message boards with thousands of points. They keep badgering each other about who is going to pull the trigger on the massive television set first.

Have yet to get an email from Hilton as described on 'coupon'

anyone have experience with this award and how it works... can I do the stays now before I get any contact with Hilton? Is there some 'registration' with hilton occuring after I get email from them? Anyone having the points already who could describe the process would be great to hear from.

thanks

I recently redeemed the 5000 HH points after 2 stays award on the MCR website. Like you, once I redeemed the award, I received an e-mail from MCR with a certificate (this was late Aug 2006). In September, I stayed at an Embassy Suite Hotel and at a Hilton Resort and within 3 days of my checking out of the resort, the 5,000 points was credited to my account. The points showed up under the "Bonus and Miles" tab when I log into the Hilton Honors Account as: Hilton Hawaiian Village: My Coke 2nd Stay Bonus 5,000 Hilton Honors Points. For me, MCR have post all of my awards in a timely manner.

Hope this helps
