On the advice of my web guy, I just upgraded my mozilla to 1.5.0.2.
During installation, I was informed that Spellbound - installed after reading a recommendation on this forum - is not compatible with the new version.
I am a windows user.
Anyone know of another solution or when the Spellbound people might be releasing an update themselves?
Until then, FTers are likely to see just how bad my spelling can be.
Thanks for any help!

Spellbound stopped working for me I think at 1.5. I use the Google toolbar now. Its not bad for the features, and it does spellchecking. I couldn't find anything else.

Spellbound development version 0.9.8.20060108 (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=351130) works fine with 1.5, 1.5.0.1 and 1.5.0.2.

damned if I can get it to work. (downloaded a dictionary and spellbound. It never seems to find a spelling error, even if I open the context menu item and try from there.)
Does it work seemlessly like the t-bird spell checker for you?

You can get it to work if you install the Nightly Tester Tools, which effectively strong arms spell bound into working. Works fine for me, YMMV:

Works fine for me.
Downloaded Spellbound, installed it, then downloaded a dictionary, installed that, restarted Firefox and both work quite seamlessly - including highlighting mis-spelled words as I type.

Seriously, it just worked for me. My guess is that you've got a conflict with another extension.

I reinstalled it (0.7.3 for firefox 1.5.0.x). It seems to be present, but I can't see anyway to make it auto correct as I type. I have to use the context menu or the tool bar button. The options menu for the extension only lets you pick style, color, and shows installed dictionaries.
Is auto correct as you type supported with ff 1.5.0.x?
--------------
Never mind. Uninstalled 0.7.3, and went back to the one linked in the earlier post and it seems to be working now. Not sure what happened the first time, but this time I saved the extensions to disk first and installed using open/file in ff. I don't think the dictionary I downloaded the first time installed properly.
I like the way t-bird does auto correct better. You just right click on the highlighted word to get suggestions, and you can select one in the menu that appears. spellbound uses control/left-click or control/space. Ugh. Anyway, it's infinitely better than without it.
Thanks,
David
