We haven't ever used the Fine Hotels and Resorts program. We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this summer. Unfortunately, because of my husband's new position, we will not be able to take our planned trip to Hawaii (where we spent our honeymoon.) We're thinking of driving to San Francisco for a long weekend. Would it be worth it to use PTS and the FHR program to make our hotel reservation? When I have checked with them previously, the rates have seemed much higher than I could book directly. What experiences have you had with FHR hotels in San Francisco, especially in the busy summer months? Which ones have provided room upgrades? What would you recommend?

It depends on what you want to get out of PTS--do you want the convenience of having a travel service make your arrangements? do you want to earn the annual travel $100 statement credit? Do you want to take advantage of the FHR program?

I think if you are a bit more specific in what your goals are, we can help you better. :)

Well I cannot be of much help, but I can offer one piece of advice. Stay FAR FAR away from The Palace Hotel in Frisco...I had an absolutely horrible experience there. I recommend the Ritz, you can never go wrong there.

Happy anniversary! We have stayed at the Four Seasons several times on FHR. No big upgrades, but the lunch was very nice and the staff was flawless. I would definitely recommend it.

Another vote for FHR stay at Four Seasons. Did that during the end of last December and I really loved it.
