I am about to undertake a significant renovation to my house and would like to see about charging as much as I can on my Gold Card or *wood Card (I also have a Marriot Signature Visa). Some of the expenses I can charge directly with certain vendors, however the cabinet company and certainly the general contractor want checks. Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to get points/rewards for these transactions?
I already looked into "convenience checks" which are such a scam that I would never consider them otherwise, and as we all know, they do not accrue points/rewards for Amex. Are there any other cards out there that do allow point/reward accrual for convenience checks?
Another route I thought would be PayPal, however a previous post (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141052) seems to indicate some limitations on the amount we can charge per day, plus we would have to convince the vendor to accept payments through PayPal.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
