A "deals" forum mentioned that Jet Blue was running a promotion (with AmEx) which allowed a friend to fly free between certain dates. No details were given and you were supposed to phone to make reservations, so my guess was that the deal was only valid for full fare tickets.

I found the offer after I'd signed into Amex's site, so I'm not sure it's linkable, but here's the deal:

LIMITED TIME FRIENDLY FARE OFFER

Fly JetBlue May 1 - June 21, 2006 and we'll let you bring a friend for free.*

Just call 1-800-JET-BLUE between March 27 and April 21, 2006 to book your travel and you won't need to fly solo all spring.

Ditto. Same deal. Look for a light blue text box near the bottom of your summary of accounts page.

Phone booking only, meaning no double credit.

Now if only I had someplace to go...

What kind of card do you have?

The JetBlue Card from Amex. It's probably only available to those cardholders, as opposed to all Amex cards.

Sorry if I didn't clarify :)

It is the Friendly Fare offer and here is a direct link that will work to the offer itself:

(You might need to copy and paste the address in the web broser)

I called jetBlue the other day for some clarifaction on this offer and the friendly phone agent told me that they will not award you with double points but that BOTH people traveling will earn the STANDARD amount...still not bad for the second person to earn TrueBlue points on a FREE ticket!

The terms (copied below) indicate that the second person does not earn points. Of course it still might turn out that way.

This special offer is available only for bookings made via 1-800-JET-BLUE. Travel may not be booked via jetblue.com. A primary JetBlue Cardmember who purchases for himself/herself between March 27, 2006, and April 21, 2006, on his/her JetBlue Card one-way or round-trip travel on JetBlue between May 1, 2006, and June 21, 2006 ("Purchased Travel"), is eligible to receive identical travel for a companion ("Companion Travel") at no cost except applicable taxes and fees set forth below. This is a Companion Travel Offer, which requires the primary JetBlue Cardmember to be one of the two people traveling. The JetBlue Cardmember must book his/her travel and the Companion Travel at the same time. In addition, the JetBlue Cardmember and the Companion Traveler must travel on the same flights and on the same dates between May 1, 2006, and June 21, 2006. May 26, 2006, and May 29, 2006, are blackout dates and travel may not take place on these dates. There are no exceptions and extensions will not be permitted. All travel must be completed by June 21, 2006.

Regardless of the number of flights purchased by the JetBlue Cardmember during one booking, the JetBlue Cardmember is only eligible to receive travel for one Companion (i.e., JetBlue Cardmember may not purchase 3 seats and bring 3 Companions). However, assuming the terms of this offer are otherwise met, JetBlue Cardmember may take advantage of this offer more than once.

Companion Travel may not be bartered, sold, or otherwise exchanged for value. Changes to Purchased Travel and Companion Travel can be made only by calling 1-800-JET-BLUE prior to scheduled departure for a $30 change fee for the JetBlue Cardmember and an additional $30 for the Companion Travel. Any change must apply to both the Purchased Travel for the JetBlue Cardmember and the Companion Travel. If any change results in any of the travel falling outside of the May 1, 2006, and June 21, 2006, window or on the blackout dates, the Purchased Travel and Companion Travel are subject to any applicable fare adjustments, including paying the full fare if applicable. Changes cannot be made online at jetblue.com or you will be charged the full fare for both the Purchased Travel and Companion Travel.

Cancellations may be made prior to scheduled departure for a JetBlue travel credit for Purchased Travel only, which is valid for one year and subject to a $30 fee. In the event of cancellation of Purchased Travel, the reservation for the Companion Travel will also be canceled, the JetBlue Cardmember forfeits all rights and money associated with the Companion Travel, and the Companion is not entitled to any travel credit. In the event of cancellation by the Companion, the Purchased Travel will still be valid without penalty. Purchased Travel and Companion Travel are non-transferable and non-refundable. Space is limited and seats may not be available on all flights and all dates. Name changes are not permitted. Purchased Travel and Companion Travel are subject to JetBlue's Contract of Carriage. Any delays associated with Purchased Travel and Companion Travel will be addressed consistent with JetBlue's Contract of Carriage. If a reservation is not changed or canceled prior to scheduled departure, all money associated with the reservation is forfeited.

This offer may not be used toward JetBlue Getaways Vacation Packages. Companion Travel is not eligible for TrueBlue(R) points or Award Dollars.

This offer is open to all JetBlue Cardmembers, although not all Cardmembers will be notified via e-mail or mail of this offer. This offer may not be combined with other special offers or travel certificates or gift certificates. Additional restrictions may apply. Fulfillment of this offer is the sole responsibility of JetBlue Airways Corporation. For questions about your JetBlue Card, please contact an American Express(R) representative at 1-800-906-8864.

*At the time of booking, JetBlue Cardmember is responsible for paying taxes and fees applicable to Companion Travel, including passenger facility charges of up to $9 each way, September 11th security fees of up to $5 each way, federal segment taxes of $3.30 per domestic segment (a segment is a takeoff and landing), and, if travel is to the Caribbean or Bermuda, government fees and taxes of up to $71.45 each way. All taxes and fees must be paid at the time of purchase; other restrictions apply. POID: H095: 0001

May and June fares are looking pretty steep compared to what I paid a month or two ago. Probably too steep for me to justify using the 2 for 1 offer. I guess JetBlue is taking my advice to jack up fares for the summer, and even getting an early start on it. :(

It expires at midnight on Friday....hurry up and book! I just took advantage of this great offer.

Fares have gone up again today...only $5 each way. All these fare hikes are adding up. As much as I miss those $59 fares JFK-FLL, I understand that they were way below cost and it was not normal. I wish people would start understanding how serious higher fuel prices are hurting every industry - especially airlines. I'll have to get use to paying $89 starting to $139 one-way fares, JFK-FLL more often. If it means the difference between profit and loss - I have no problem with it, because jetBlue must stay in business...the product is too good.
