I don't know quite how to search for this.. I have a whole slew of power cords. I want to get some little ties so that they don't unravel into a mass of wires in my laptop bag. Anyone have any recommendations?

Rubber bands work.

"Scotch" (brand) makes a "Bundling Wrap". It's a roll about the size of electrical tape and is a velcro type. You just cut the length you need and wrap it around it self and adheres to itself. It does not have any adhesive.

I'm not sure where it can be purchased, but I bought mine at a CVS.

Cool suggestion! You can find more info on the bundling wrap here:

Velcro wraps are great. I also use these a lot: cable clamps (http://www.smarthome.com/9049.html)

Buy a box of garbage bags that have twist ties in them. Use the twist ties, this way you won't care if you leave one beyond or not, and tie the bag in a knot.

Cable Wrapz - pack of 6 for $7 at Compusa (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=302923&pfp=SEARCH)
They work something like a little girl's pony tail holder. Very practical - easy to attach, snug fit, stay in place. Besides the computer area, I use them on hair dryer cords, lamp cords, and other cords and cables throughout the house, too.

Also check out the online retailer CableOrganizer.com (http://cableorganizer.com/cableties-wrap-clips/#A) to get more ideas.

I love these things. I use them on all my electronics cables (both my laptop, and my home PC).
These cable wraps have a slot in one and and you pass the end thru the slot to attach the wrap to the cable so the thing doesn't get lost. Then bundle the cable and wrap the velcro around it to secure it.

They're great!

These are very similar to what the guy in our IT dept gets. Except, he buys them on a roll, and gives them out as people ask for them. He just unrolls as many as you need and tears them off at the precut perforations - very cool - if you need them in bulk - like he does.

The best ones probably for oneoff's are the 3M stuff that has the loop to attach it to the cable and then loop around the bundle.

Personally I use Panduit Tak-Tape (like velcro except thinner) since I carry it in my toolbag for datacenter work. I take a big needle and sew a loop onto one of the cables and then use it in the same manner as the precut velcro wraps. Alot cheaper albeit a bit time consuming at the beginning, but they also don't fall off.
