Did it work out for you as far as the RR credits? Also, how is the service?

THANKS

I joined Earthlink a few years ago when they were doing the 8 credit deal (and the credits were actually worth something). The credits posted fine and I never had problems with the service. I only signed up because my work required and paid for me to have some sort of dialup access when traveling. Nowadays, all hotels I stay at have free HSI so no more Earthlink for me. I would be wary signing up this late in the game since the RR credits won't post for signups after May 10th. That's just asking for long chats with customer service... :o

I suspected it may be a risky idea which is why I asked. Due to a travel hiatus I stand to loose a bunch of credits so I considered it. Thanks for the info.

Unless you need a dial up connection anyway, fine. Otherwise, for just the credits not worth it -- as it takes lots of follow up to get credits and they try to get you to pay more months than the minimum.

You can also use Earthlink for high speed cable or dsl - i have their cable service (they partner with other companies). My bill actually comes from Time Warner - Road Runner, but it is billed as Earthlink Cable service.

I am very pleased with the service I get from Earthlink and the points were definitely worth it (back when they were worth something). They are marginally worth it now.

I have Time Warner Road Runner now. I figured if I changed to Earthlink I'd be getting the same service (which I really like) and also be saving about $90 since the first six monthe would only $30. as opposed to the $45.00 I'm paying now. PLUS I could get the RR credits which I really need in order not to leave a bunch of little "orphans?"

The problem, however, is that I'm not sure I'm up for the bout (that some seem to be having) necessary for actually getting the Earthlink credits.

I beg to differ. I signed up last September and quit last December. I didn't need the dial-up and the 8 credits were more than worth one phone call to cancel service and 3 months of charges.

A week after the credits posted (at 3 months) I called and cancelled.

Good for you. But I have read many others who had big problems getting Credits.
