I also have my personal Cell Phone which is a Cingular Ericsson Z520A and was wondering what type of coverage I could expect in Sorrento & Rome Italy ?

Thanks

Z520A is a quadband phone, so you'll get perfect coverage all over Italy. The Italians love their phones so coverage is a near 100%, nothing like the spotty coverage here in the US.

Here is an example of one networks coverage:

I used my Cingular phone in Amalfi. I roamed on Vodaphone's network, and got great coverage. It was about $2 or $3 a minute. Have fun! Sorrento is beautiful.

Spent a few weeks in Rome a few months back with Cingular using a Moto Razr and the coverage was 100% everywhere. It was like a cordless phone. A really, really expensive cordless phone. Rates seemed a lot higher than elsewhere in Europe.

You'll have no problems in Italy. Like most me Europe, it's actually harder to find somewhere a cell phone doesn't work, than where one does. Naples and surrounding area is a big place so coverage is good. Have fun but watch out for those roaming costs. Here's hoping the EU legislation will bring down roaming costs...
