Hi everyone,
I just noticed that you can now book TrueBlue awards online, instead of having to call jetBlue and being connected to the TrueBlue department which had limited hours!! To take advantage of this convenience, go to www.jetblue.com and click on book flights. In the upper left corner of the new screen, press Click here to book TrueBlue Award flights. Then, you will be redirected to a new system which allows you to search for availability on TrueBlue seats!
Also, they have made a minor change to the program which will not affect you if you are traveling roundtrip, but if you are flying one way - this will definitely help you! - This is from their site about the change:
TrueBlue Awards are now made up of two TruePasses, each valid for a one-way flight. TruePasses can be used together or separately, making your TrueBlue Award even more flexible. You still need to earn 100 points for one TrueBlue Award.

This is a positive development, especially the splitting of awards into one-ways. I couldn't believe they didn't offer this before, given their WN roots.

As far as I know, Southwest doesn't offer one-way rewards (16 points = roundtrip, but 8 points won't buy you a one-way).

"TrueBlue Awards are now made up of two TruePasses, each valid for a one-way flight." This is identical to WN's award issuance (can't earn only half an award) and usage (can use half an award at a time).

Thanks for the clarification. I stand corrected.

This is a really helpful feature. ^ I haven't done extensive testing, but availability matches what I have heard from the phone. I can book a seat on a flight tomorrow, and there doesn't appear to be any added fee. Although prices have dropped on several flights (sometimes dramatically), award seats have not opened up on those flights. JetBlue may not open up many seats past its initial allocation.
Also, while the T&C states "Award Travel is redeemable only for flights via the most direct or applicable route as published in the current schedule of JetBlue. JetBlue may determine in its sole discretion whether an itinerary qualifies for Award Travel", what I find is there is availability on routes that are nowhere near the most direct, so it really just depends on JetBlue's interpretation.
What I didn't like is the message "Something's not right" if it can't find availability. I first assumed it was an error, like a system crash. If there's no flights available, I'd rather JetBlue simply states that, similar to their message when purchasing a flight.
But it's a really helpful added feature.

Yes, it is true that you cannot get a one-way award on Southwest for 8 pts, but once you earn 16pts and earn a ticket you can use it for 2 one ways within the expiry period. You do not have to book a roundtrip.
Just to update. I booked my first actual trip using a Jetblue reward. Smooth process overall, even allowed me to apply my flight credits to pay for the taxes/fees (which were only $2.50 total for a one-way -- that seemed cheap to me.)
Availability doesn't quite seem to match fares -- in some cases the lowest fare was available on multiple days, but an award was only available on 1 day. Still, this process was the smoothest I have experienced online, and the ability to book a one-way fare is a huge benefit compared to most airlines. ^ Since I had a circle trip coming up (3 one-ways), this helped immensely.

Murph, having booked several free tickets in the past over the phone, I too have just booked my first reward ticket online and I thought it was as easy as 1-2-3! Last night I booked a JFK-MSY reward roundtrip from my TrueBlue account and WAS able to pay the $5 roundtrip taxes/fees with my jetBlue credit so the fare actually read $0.00 and obviously no CC was needed, which was awesome! Today, I booked a FLL-JFK reward ticket for me, but from my father's TrueBlue account. Since he had no credit in there, I had to pay the 5 bucks...oh well, but it would still be a nice feature to be able to transfer credits AND/OR TrueBlue awards from account to account. For example, you can use a credit from your account and apply it to a friend or family member's ticket when booking, but you can't transfer itt to their accountt. Same goes for TrueBlue rewards...therefore, you can't mix a credit from account A and a free flight from account B into the SAME reservation. Not a big deal for $2.50 or $5.00, but I wonder why???

This probably means you can't route NYC-BOS by flying JFK-DEN-BOS.
this means that Air-Tran is still the only program that will let you cash in for a 1 way w/o having to get 2 vouchers even if they can be used at different times.
I ahve friends that use the AT for a 1way and purchase the other way. As with AT fares you arent penalized if you only buy a 1 way rather then a r/t.
