I want to get an extra card off my account for my parents - they spend alot of time in the US and I could earn points off their purchases here and redeem some benefits for them.

Problem is...the extra card app page asks for a SSN for the applicant...I thought the extra card came off my account, so Im not sure why they need this.

Has anyone tried getting an extra card for someone without a SSN or US credit history?

I know that the on-line forms, let alone the printed application require you to fill out an SSN #. This alone, although it might be possible, will cause u trouble trying to get the extra card... and u know how people in America are with rules...

If you call American Express they'll be happy to issue a card in any name without an SSN. In my experience, they'll ask for an SSN, but will go ahead and issue the card just fine even if you don't have one to give.

Right, I have had supplemental cards issued for non-US residents w/o any problem. They will ask for SSN. Just say they don't have one.
