Hilton HHonors - Doubletree Hotel Anaheim/Orange County Trip Reports and Reviews

Wow. What an interesting last few days this has been! I stayed at three different Hilton properties here in Southern California on three consecutive evenings. There was a world of difference between them.

See my "Fast Track in So Cal" post for the first two. But I just have to say some really good things about the Doubletree Anaheim/Orange County (which is actually in Orange, CA).

When my husband and I checked in, we were given upgraded accommodations and the usual cookies, but nothing was said about breakfast. I mentioned that I was a Gold VIP and the clerk immediately apologized, said she had "Blue" on the res, and handed over two certificates for a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant. She mentioned we had already been upgraded just because we were HHonors Blue!

Room was actually nicer than either of the Hilton properties I had stayed in earlier in the week. Plus, there were better goodies in the bathroom (sewing kit, etc.) and a robe.

An hour or so after we arrived, the manager called to welcome us. Nice touch. Shortly after that, bell service arrived with a comp bottle of white wine. Okay, now I'm impressed.

We went out to dinner and returned to find bed turned down and room tidied (wastebaskets emptied, etc.) This was between 7 and 9 pm on a Saturday evening -- according to the info card in the bathroom, they don't even HAVE regular housekeeping staff on duty at that time! I certainly didn't get service like this at the Hiltons. And get this -- the (weekend special) rate was $78!

Every single person we spoke with at this property -- front desk, bell staff, valet parking, concierge desk, restaurant staff, gift shop staff -- was helpful and friendly.

BTW, this property has shuttle bus service hourly to Disneyland, which is nearby. From now on I'll definitely be taking our out-of-town relatives up there when we visit Disneyland. Much easier to spend the night there and get an early start on the park in the AM!

I just got back from a stay at this hotel. Its the one listed on The City Drive.

It has been recently remodeled and appears in very nice condition.

The City shopping mall right around the corner with some fabulous shopping and resturants.

I got the hotel on a point stretcher for 15K points. The self parking is $8.00 or Valet is $10.00
As a diamond I requested an early checkin and the room was ready at noon.
I was upgraded to a 2 room suite. It was basically two hotel rooms, with a lockable adjoining room. One was converted into a living room. One was a bedroom. The bedroom part of the room had a mini fridge and a microwave. The living room part had a full couch, TV, and an extra bathroom.

The executive lounge is not open on weekends.
I got cookies, full breakfast buffet.. which was decent.
Also a couple free drink vouchers.

I watched the Disneyland fireworks show from my room.

I was very happy with this hotel, the location is great for Angels games, Ducks games, Disneyland. As well as just about anywhere in Orange County.

I have stayed at the property at least 10 times. Did they finally replace the tv's? The last time I stayed at this property in December, the rooms still had 19 inch televisions that were quite old.

Does this hotel have a free shuttle to Disneyland? The website says it does, but I wonder if it's the "Anaheim Resort" shuttle. The shuttle's site doesn't show this doubletree on the routes, but it does show "the block" now.

I just got a postcard in the mail from this property. They are offering double points and miles through June 30th. You need to enter rate code HH7.

When I put the rate code in for my upcoming stay in early May, it gave a rate of $139/night. Not quite as good as the AAA rate but you get more points and miles.

Just finished a 3 night stay at this hotel and I would say that it is a nice alternative to the Anaheim Hilton, but it's not that great. The staff and service were excellent though.

My reservation was upgraded before checkin to a concierge suite, so we were excited. We were given about 6 drink coupons for the lobby bar adn 2 cookies, of course. At checkin we were given a room on the 20th (top) floor. It was not a suite let alone a concierge suite of which the website says there are only 3. It was an Executive room. This was Easter weekend after all and they were quite full. Friday morning breakfast was in the lounge about 20 feet from the room. It was an ok breakfast with hot item such as bacon, sausage, eggs, potatos, and french toast. The lounge attendant was incredibly on the ball and very nice. Breakfast buffet on Sat and Sun were in the hotel restaurant and the selection was the exact same as in the lounge.

There is a free shuttle to/from Disney that runs to Disney on the top of the hour starting at 8am (I think). It leaves Disney at 15 min after the hour starting at 2:15pm and runs until 12:15am. There were tons of people this weekend using the shuttle so they sent several at a time.

The room was a regular room that happened to be on the 20th floor. There is wireless internet, but you have to bill it to the room. Since we were not upgraded to a suite, as I had requested with a call prior to the stay, they comped the wireless internet. The water pressure was terrible, and the toilets are really loud and can be heard from other rooms. The bathroom amenities were Neutrogena, but a newer looking brand. I think it was Neutrogena Clean, or something like that. I thought they had changed to the Crabtree and Evelyn, but maybe that's only the case for Hiltons. They also charge parking $8/day, but it didn't show up on the folio. I don't know if it'll be on the credit card later though. We didn't see any other parts of the hotel like the pool or exercise, so I can't comment on them.

Overall, the price is right for what you get being HHonors elite. And the free shuttle to Disney is nice, even though the times are only once an hour.
