MilesBuzz! - How to get miles to use for customers
Not sure if this is the right forum, maybe someone can move it, if this is not the appropriate one. Our company has a client that pays for everything with an AmEx card to get the miles. With the 3% servicing fee, $1,000,000 worth of purchases will cost us $30,000 in fees from AmEx. We want to investigate purchasing miles directly from the airline to offer the customer an option of paying us with bank draft and we in turn give them miles per purchase equivalent to what they would get from AmEx. From what I have read, the miles should be available at less the .01ea from the airline in this bulk and could save us $20,000 for every $1,000,000 in purchases. I haven't been able to find a link on Delta, American, NW for how you would go about making such an arrangement. Obviously, they have plenty of these in place with other companies, but does anyone know how you enter into such an arrangement? Who I should be contacting?
Thanks
Cindi

Although I have never looked into a business purchase of miles, here are a couple of starting places:
For NWA - http://www.nwa.com/worldperks/becomeapartner.html
For AA - https://www.orderaamiles.com/orderAAmiles/orderAAmiles.htm
I hope that helps.

I think for such a type of transaction it would be best to go directly to the corporate headquarters of the airline. Calling, explaining what the issue is about and trying to get to a competent person.
Why for example not look at
http://www.aa.com/content/amrcorp/corporateInformation/facts/structure.jhtml
and try to find out who the most adequate person would be to ask for.
F.ex. try to call Mr. Kurt Stache, President – AAdvantage; he is the one who always writes me letters ;) Maybe at least you get to a high-rank subordinate to him.

In the Programs for Businesses section of the Other Programs I Like page of my website below, I have the links you need to buy miles from various airlines, including the three you mention. Note that there are two programs listed for Northwest.
I do suggest that for a million miles you might be able to negotiate a better price than the one they list. I think Randy mentioned around 1.3 cents per mile for the very largest buyers (like credit card companies).
THanks so much for all the suggestions, I didn't know where to start. This board is just a treasure of information.
