Note that the first offer (April-Sept, over $1000) caps bonus points at 9000/month, whereas the second (April-June, everything) caps bonus points at 2000/month. So the first offer can be better if your monthly spend is large enough.

Of course, that's all moot for me as my Gold Rewards Plus strikes out again...

To summarize, there are at least 17 variants, all at:

americanexpress.com/doublepointsXY

...where X = 1 - 9 and Y = 2, 5, 8 or 9

I am inclined to wait and see which I am invited to participate in before registering our primary card, but might play with another.

This seems like a really specific, targeted offer, likely calculated based on a cardmember's existing spending patterns. (IE, designed to encourage increased spending)

I'm curious about what the spending patterns of the people who were able to successfully sign up for each of the different offers. IE, which offer were you able to sign up on and what is your spending pattern? My theory here is that this is probably targeting lower spenders,

I was able to sign up for NONE of the offers. My current monthly spending is around 10k per month on a personal Plat Amex.

Yeah, I just tried to register my blue and Fidelity Gold Cards for all of the above promotions and about 7 others I came across and was rejected for them all. I guess amex doesn't want my business.

Rejected my Gold. I wonder if they're finally cross-checking solicited cardmembers with the signups -- ie, no solicitation = no registration.

Well not excatly I was able to sign up the double points up to a maximun of 2000/month promo on a Small Business Card I had been charging less than $1000 month currently.
Got a confirming e-mail,

just curious, what do you do with all the points?

mia
Apr 4, 06, 5:36 pm
The current promotion is not really triple points, it's one extra point per dollar which will be 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 depending on the regular earning of the category. I suppose it could be that any card registered for the March/April deal is ineligible for the offers which run April - June or September, otherwise they could be paying twice for April.

Just received the 8000 offer. Has anyone received two offers? I would rather have a lower start to the doubling, even though the max/month is less.

Did all of these have registrations that expired April 30th?

Has anyone seen new ones for Summer 2006?

The link below is from an old thread. The bonus is still active though. 2X points for charges May-June 06 w/ no min spend. The offer is for Green and Gold cards. My Rewards Plus Gold worked even though I wasn't targeted with a snail mail promo letter.

I love how when you void a tickets you get the cost of your ticket credited to your card and still see the MR points applied what a great program this is. More points the merrier. The first link also worked like a charm with my gold card.

AMEX's promos can go to hell :D

Plat and Cent only have PTS/CTS bonuses don't they? Absolutely ridiculous.

Huh? I've been a Platinum card holder for ten years or so and got one of these bonuses (double points over $3k for April-June).
