Hello,

The AMEX T&C say, that the flight ticket has to be paid with AMEX to get the coverage over the AMEX baggage delay insurance.

Does anybody have experience with this insurance on an award flight?
How is it, when I paid all the taxes and fees with AMEX, but the flight itself with miles?

Does anybody have experience with that?

Thanks in advance, Martin

I just added this to my Platinum card (having held out for a while). It was explained to me that even if the taxes are paid on a reward ticket using the card the benefits are applicable.

Thank you.

My question was regarding a german platinum card when the baggage delay insurance was always included as long as the card was used for the payment of the flight.

Effective 01/01/2006 they have changed the T&C. Compensation amounts are down* a little bit but it isn't necessary anymore to purchase the ticket with Amex. So reward flights should be fine now.

As always, they informed their customers with 3 months delay.

*) € 400 Euro after 4 hours and another € 400 after 48 hours of delay
