Any feed back on Amex Platinum benefits at this hotel?
American Express Membership Rewards - FHR and Four Seasons George VView Full Version : FHR and Four Seasons George V Cascadia Mar 28, 06, 11:56 pm Any feed back on Amex Platinum benefits at this hotel? ABG Mar 31, 06, 12:52 pm Upgrades are very tough to obtain...... love_to_travel Apr 2, 06, 4:46 am I was going to post this separately but why create another thread when this one seems appropriate (I hope :-) I have reservations for a Superior Room for two nights at the Four Seasons George V this summer under AMEX's FHR program. I'm trying to figure out how much the FHR perks are actually worth so that I can justify the (outrageous) annual fee AMEX charges. This is what I came up with: 1. Rate Savings = €50/night (FS standard rate is €710, FHR rate is €660) 2. 4PM Late Checkout = €50/stay (Romance Package 4PM checkout when booking a non-suite) 3. Breakfast = €40/night (difference between Standard vs Bed and Breakfast) 4. Amenity = €83/stay ($100 spa credit using exchange rate of $1.20 = €1) 5. Upgrade = €95/night (difference between a Superior and Deluxe room, perk is NOT guaranteed) Assuming I get the upgrade: Savings = (50*2) + 50 + (40*2) + 83 + (95*2) = €503 = $604 If I don't get the upgrade: Savings = (50*2) + 50 + (40*2) + 83 = €313 = $376 The first time I did these calculations I was sure I did something wrong, so I did them again, and again, but I keep getting the same result. Based on these savings, I'm thinking about extending my stay :-) Can anyone find errors in my calculations? Raffles Apr 3, 06, 3:21 am Arguably you shouldn't include the spa credit unless you would have used the spa anyway. Rest of your calcs seem right. We are at the Four Seasons Provence for Easter and the numbers are very similar - Euro 50 per night saving, plus breakfast, plus $100 spa credit. This covers most of my UK annual fee in one go. dba Apr 3, 06, 5:48 am Another part I would question is the 50 Euros/night savings. There are so many discount plans out there, you can probably get the same rate through membership in a much less expensive (or free) organization. |
