What a great improvement. No longer do you have to get to a computer by 6 PM local time to book a PL room for that night or else be stuck with rack rates or motels. I wish they could also find a way to accept West Coast bookings till 11P PT. Oh well, you can't have everything. A million thanks, PL!!

It has also been reported that an attempt to extend a PL hotel stay can be made until shortly before check-out time.

Sweet, I still assumed 6p, this is very useful when flights are cancelled due to Wx, etc.

Yep, I agree -- EXTREMELY useful in these situations, as PL may have "sold-out" inventory in IROPS.
You gotta love pl's IT. Whenever I make a reservation, within 5 minutes I can call the hotel and confirm my room type request & hotel loyalty program #. That's speed.

How "new" is this?

I thought something had changed and was relatively new in February, and this may explain some of the bookings that went through for me earlier this month and last which I thought was a "new" thing or something related to the differences between PCLN's cut-off time per their clock vs. local clock of either hotel or something else. (I didn't follow-up on this too closely :o )

They must be "desperate" for business. Recently they shortened the time you must have between bids and now this.

Desperate or not, the recent changes are fantastic.

What do they expect now that they buried the "bid your own price" option under the regular hotel search on the main page.

PCLN's website certainly seems oriented toward downplaying the name your own price approach. I recently found myself having to refamiliarize myself with PCLN's site since the default option was not "traditional Priceline". :(

PL original inventory must be drying up as the hotels (and airplanes) continue to fill up. This is a nice easy way to open up new inventory.
