forgive me if this isn't the right place to ask...I tried to search but came up empty.

We are flying from BOS to MCO 1/12/07 and returning 1/20/07. I am trying to wait patiently for Jet Blue to open up past September. I am curious as to what their fares are like for that time frame. I don't want to wait for them if it will be too expensive. I can purchase the airfare now with AA for about $900 total (5 of us). I would really rather fly Jet Blue now that Song is out, but the bottom line for me is the $$. Any help??

Trying to determine which way airfares will go is like trying to predict the stock market. I think the AA fare is pretty competitive, but if you don't have an AA mileage account, I think you are safe to wait until JetBlue posts their January Schedule; however, unless the price of oil drops, I would not expect JetBlue's fare to be any lower.

Agreed with Ken, but just also want to note that even if the january flight schedule is posted now for jetBlue... from the trend that I noticed... fares will be somewhat average, but chances of it going down for a promo are pretty good in January, given your not flying the first couple of days during the month. Not saying its going to happen because its super unpredictable... the plus is jetBlue does issue credits toward future flights should the fare drop on the exact same flight that you are booked on. The type of promos that I've seen jetBlue done for January and February in the past are anniversary sales since jetBlue started operation in the month of February and also get it together fare which is basically 2 or more people get fare for about 1/2 of what you of paid per person if u traveled by yourself. In addition, as a American Express jetBlue card holder, you may also get other promotions. Downside, all these promotions wont get annouced till about 2 to 3 months prior to January. This is pretty much true with most airlines, there tends to be good bargins about 2 to 3 months out. Hope that helps.

thanks for you input....I think I will wait it out and see what Jet Blue offers when they finally open up. Even if it's around the same price as AA, I think I would rather fly Jet Blue...we have little kids and those tv's make it so much easier to travel!

Jetblue is looking for increased yields. So I don't think they'll undercut AA by much if any. As others have advised, if you're not an elite AA passenger, Jetblue is probably a fine choice. It will not be much lower than AA.
