Air New Zealand Air Points - Anyone else met this Purser?

Flew a few weeks back with Air New Zealand from AKL to SIN. Had the experiance of meeting one of the best pursers that I have come across in my life!
He is around 6ft2" tall, white hair, mid 40's. Extremely bubly character. Made sure he said hi to most of the rows in my part of the cabin (front Y) then came and said hello to me personally (not sure if it was to do with me being a *G) Then through out the flight kept on making rounds making sure everyone was ok.
My seat was broken but since the flight was full I didn't see any point in complaining, as it is I had the best seat in the plane in Y. Front of the cabin on the left hand side with enough space to stretch out my legs below the galley in front of me. I have only ever seen this type of seat on their plane!
Towards the end he came to check up again as to how we were and I mentioned the seat, he was completely appaled that i had let something like this slide during a 12 hr flight. He gave us an Bottle of their best champange and wine for us to enjoy our night in Singpaore.
Not that I wanted anything for the broken seat. The purser was 10/10. Amazing character!!! Not like most of the ones today who basically go into hiding as soon as the plane takes off!
Thank you for a pleasent flight, who ever you were! If any of the FF'ers know the name of this purser I would appericate a PM so I can drop Air New Zealand a mail to tell them what a outstanding employee they have

If it's the guy who I am thinking of, I've unfortunately forgotten his name. Speaks with a bit of an accent?
I've had him a few times on 767-300 flights (NAN-AKL, AKL-SYD, and I think AKL-MEL on a 744 but maybe not). He is a very nice guy and always very efficient. He's an ISD, not a purser though from memory.
I particularly liked how on the NAN-AKL leg he came into the lounge and briefed people, invited them to ask him any questions and to contact him in flight, gave us a nice little summary, etc. Came around and spoke to the *G's in the first mini cabin of Y as well.
If you do figure out his name... let us know.

Hi, know who you mean (and agree on your assessment!) but dont know his name. If you email air nz (look for Flight Comment on their website) and give your flight number they will know.

I think it was this guy.
I was flying and they were going to play Charlie and the chocolate factory
I had just seen that on my prior 4 flights :(
I asked if they have any personall dvd players or something.
He put me in business :-P whole downstairs cabin of 747 to myself.
Had Y food though :-P still though no complaints from me.
I got some evil looks when i came back to get my bag/glasses. I had a row of 4 seats blocked off for myself in row 3 of y (ty LAX agent), and i was planning on sleeping, although others decided to jump inot the spare seats before i could stretch out.
Then when i was asked to go to the galley where he told me to go to C cabin :-P

Hi lally,
Glad you had a good experience. It was around a month ago that the Inflight Service Director position was officially changed to Flight Service Manager. The service flows have been rewritten so they're no longer required to work in economy class during the service. They also have a lot more responsibility and accountability on the ground and for the conduct of the flight. I hope others will notice that the FSM role allows FA1 to become a lot more visible during the flight.
I think I know who the FSM you refer to is - if you drop me a PM with the flight date I will confirm his name and give you his first name to allow you to mention him by name in any letters you write.
Once again glad you had a great trip!

I've found NZ do value feedback - even if you can only give flight number and date they'll soon work out the rest.

Agree completely. I usually make a note to commend NZ staff via a letter if I find them to be particularly professional or friendly.

I think I had this guy on a recent AKL-SFO flight. Said hi to everyone in business.

Apparently he no longer works for them! Was layed off. What a pity!

That's too bad. I was hoping that when they changed their In-flight Service Director thing that he would end up OK.
