California - Fresno/Yosemite International is international - MEX-GDL-FAT starts Sat April 1

FAT's name change to Fresno/Yosemite International a few years ago gains new meaning with the airport's first scheduled international flights.

Mexicana begins nonstop service between Fresno and Guadalajara, continuing to Mexico City on Saturday. Service will operate on A318s.

Interesting news - I can remember city officials all the way back to the Mayor Ted Wills administration trying to get direct air service to Mexico. I hope the route succeeds, and leads to more flights for FAT.

Looks like the Mexicana service is already a hit. Reports out of FAT are that flights have been selling out after only 3 weeks of service. The expectation was a 75% load factor so Mexicana is said to be very happy. Additional frequencies and flights to additional cities in Mexico could be added much sooner than expected.
