I have been looking for a thread that posts experiences with the plat amex FHR program at different properties so that I (and others) can get idea of what to expect or not expect at specific FHR properties. My recent experiences are as follows:
March '06 - Regent Beverly Wilshire - booked premier room and upgraded to 1 bedroom suite. $70 lunch credit and $70 breakfast credit. Didn't request nor was I offered late check-out.
February '06 - Monasterio in Cuzco. Upgrade to extremely large room that accomodated both my husband and me as well as our 7 year old son. It was not a suite but we booked the lowest priced room and they regular rooms are often tiny. Free buffet breakfast daily and dinner at the restaurant with no apparent limit on spending for dinner. No late check-out however and check-out was early at 10am.
February '06 - Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge - Again an upgrade to a larger than average room that accomodated three of us. We also received two 30 minute massages and free breakfast. Again no late check-out and check-out was early at 9am.
Hilton Hawaiian Village Alii Tower- have stayed here about 4 times in the past year. I always book a garden view at the lowest price. 3 out of 4 times upgraded to full ocean view and once to partial ocean view. Continental breakfast daily on the pool patio and lunch for two at the Rainbow Lanai. I am always offered the 4pm check-out but don't use it.
May '05 - La Quinta Resort and Club - upgrade to poolside room from cheapest resort casita, really nice breakfast daily at any of the hotel restaurants and lunch for two (no apparent limit on dollars). Received the 4pm check-out.
November '05 and '04 - Bacara in Santa Barbara- upgraded from the first floor dungeon rooms to top floor partial ocean view (but still just the basic hotel room). In '04 received the $100 food and beverage credit in '05 received the $75 spa credit (doesn't go far). Really nice breakfast included but there is a dollar limits ( I thiink $50 or $75). Wasn't offered nor did I request late check-out.
Jan '05 - Hotel Bel-air - Received upgrade to 1 bedroom suite with fireplace after booking mid range regular room with fireplace. Lunch credit is only $50 and is the breakfast credit and it doesn't go far. I wasn't offered nor did I request late check-out.
I have an upcoming FHR stay at the Alii Tower again in May, the Scottsdale Princess in June and this year booked a La Quinta stay through a virtuouso agent for April. I will post on those when I return. I'd love to hear other FTer's experiences.
If this thread is in the wrong place I apologize and let me know where it should go.
