Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Sydney, or Perth?

umm, you haven't given us much to go on but speaking for Sydney ...

Winter and Spring are low rainfall seasons so the weather should be pretty good with a daily maximum mean of 18 degrees C and minimums around 9C. Personally, I think Sydney winters are amongst the best on earth.
I don't know Perth very well but I would venture to suggest you'll have more gelato and art options in the harbour city. The Biennale (http://www.mca.com.au/default.asp?page_id=10&content_id=1920) is on from June to August and the NSW Art Gallery (http://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/exhibitions/coming) has a ongoing series of exhibitions.

As mentioned you haven't given us many clues about what you like. Personally I'd go for anywhere else BUT Sydney. Perth is great BUT a long way from anywhere.

Depends what you're looking for & your tastes. Both are great cities! I am currently in Melbourne (also a great city), but I fly Melbourne to Perth on a regular basis for business.
