Hi all,
I have heared now from different sides, that the route FRA-MIA MIA-FRA with LH is always overbooked (in all classes Y/C/F). I'm now on the waitinglists for upgrades from Y to C. Anyone from you have had ever get an upgrade on this route (since you where also on a waiting-list)?
PS: My flight is in May.
Cheers

F is never overbooked by LH (unlike Quantas for example). But for Y and C this route is usually pretty full and probably overbooked. In order to get I tickets (BIZ award or upgrade from Y) you usually have to be very early. I booked this route as BIZ award tickets always approx. 360 days ahead. They usually had 8 seats in I, which went always away just days after opening it. May is still very popular in FL, since the weather is nice and hurricane season is only on the horizone. So, all in all and to be very honest, you probably will not make it from the waitlist to the confirmed upgrade list. The only chance might be to check in the evening before departure (if you live close to FRA) and ask for an upgrade again.

I think what S-O-G suggests could work - at least it worked form me on a flight back from Miami to Frankfurt. Perhaps I was just lucky, but about two years ago I managed to get an upgrade using evouchers when checking in for the flight from Miami to Frankfurt.
Had been flying to Miami with Swiss and would have had the flight back with Iberian, which had technical problems with their machine which caused a delay of nearly one day (don't want to bother you with the details of how unprofessionally the manged this situation).
First thing I did when I arrived at the hotel (to which Iberia after a long waiting time finally brought us) was calling the Senator service line to ask them whether I had a chance to change the flight to LH. Despite the fact that it was a cheap eco ticket the accepted me imediately. At the check in I asked whether it would be possible to do an upgrade using evouchers. First they refused - ticket too cheap and all seat in C sold - but then accepted when one of the biz pax did not shine up. Of course I had to wait to the last minute...
Was my first and definitely last experience with Iberia.

A little bit OT but I second this. You only need to fly IB once to be sure that you'll never do again.
