We are flyig from LAX to BKK with a 1 hour and 30 minutes layover in HKG. Never been in HKG and i am afraid that customs and inmigration will take too long and we will miss our connecing flight to BKK.
Itinerary:
Flight 881 LAX Departs 1:55 am HKG Arrives 7:35 am next day
Flight 713 HKG Departs 8:55 am BKK Arrives 10:30 am
The airline says that is a "legal" conection!
Please advise

It's fine - why would you want to go through customs and immigration? It's just a transit - you stay airside - all you have to do is go through one security point between the arrival and departure levels, for which there will almost certainly be no line at all. The minimum connection time at HKG is 45 minutes.

other than the u.s when you are just changing planes there is no need to go through customs. i have connected from flights in hkg in around 20 min.
Just to put you even more at ease... CX is one of the best airlines in terms of handling late arrivals. IF by freak chance your arrival into HKG is delayed for whatever reason, there will be a CX agent as you get off the plane to help you with your onward flight. There are several flights a day from HKG to BKK on CX alone, not to mention THAI Airways. So don't worry about your connection in HKG and enjoy your first trip to Asia. :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am considering a ticket that arrives HKG on NW at 22:35 and departs for BKK on EK at 00:15. 100 minutes should be plenty for an int'l connection, even switching airlines, right? I have done this once before (CO from EWR to the earlier EK flight) and it was fine.
Thanks!

In terms of whether it is a legal connection, the answer is yes. Whether 100 minutes transfer time is enough depends of course on whether your NW flight arrives on time into HKG. Ordinarily, that should be plenty of time not only to connect but to browse through the wonderful duty-free shops at HKG.

The connections are perfectly fine. I had one such connection from FCO to MNL with a sixty minute layover in HKG, and I even arrived on the opposite side of the airport. I just strolled along to get to my gate, and by the time I got there, it was boarding time already.
To the above posters... your connections are fine. I am actually leaving for BKK this PM...taking CX 885 which arrives in HKG at 1845 and taking TG 607 to BKK which departs at 2045. However I have taken connections with only one hour and made it on time as well. As a matter of fact I have a connection at SIN in a couple of days with only one hour and should be fine....
