Hi All,

I wish to transfer 50,000 MR points to a frequent flyer account of another person's name (family member, same last name). Is this possible? I have not done a transfer on my MR account to any frequent flyer accounts since having the card. Thanks for your help.

I seem to remember this question having come up before, but yes, I've done it, there hasn't been a problem yet.

i have done this many times. all you do is call and just ask them to do it without telling them thats its a different person.40% of the time they say sorry we cant, just call again and chances are the next agent will do it.officialy i dontthink its aloud, but like i have said it can be done easily and no one really cares

Better yet, do it online at the MR site. First you go through the step of linking the new FF account. For some programs the linking is immediate (US), for others it takes a day or two (DL comes to mind). Then you can go in and transfer yourself online. I have links to all my family members accounts - and have never had a problem. I also gave some miles to a friend and transferred them into her account, again, no problem and never needed to wait on hold or speak to a humanbeing.

Yes--I have a link to the boyfriend's JetBlue FF account on MR web site--easiest to do it online!

US Airways no longer participate in MR since the merger with America West earlier this year. Too bad, too, as they were easy to use MR points with and the transfers were fast (click the button to transfer points, go to the john, come back and the transfer was done).

Am I misremembering (chalk it up to old age) or wasn't USAir not in MR for a while before "earlier this year"?

I'm pretty sure you couldn't transfer into USAir before 1/1/06, but as I say, I'm gettin' old. :)

Of course, my concept of when things happened is often vague, so "earlier this year" could easily mean "September of last year" instead of "last month." Essentially I remembered it was recent (the merger was recent, after all) but didn't remember anything more specific than that.
