why is Hertz getting Lincoln Town Car "L" (5-inch stretch) editions now?

I rented a convertible from them yesterday because the weather was just so nice.(compared to 30 to 40 degrees the week before).

While I got into the minivan, I noticed the gold-colored Lincoln Town Car parked next to it seem longer than usual. Over in the next aisle, there was another regular Town Car. The two looked identical, except one had longer rear door/windows, plus the "L" badge on the side.... I got into the rear seat and boy, did it have a LOT of extra legroom... :)
It's even roomier than the W140 S500 that my uncle drives.

I wonder if they charge extra for it, or is it still withing the luxury class like regular Town Cars... :)

Well as I work for Ford/Mercury/Lincoln, you will see several "L" models soon. Town Car, Navigator, Expedition, and Mountaineer. I am sure they will be extra. So I am sure you will also see the Excursion disappear from the site soon as well. Just a cofor the record the Mountianeer L is the dumbest thing ever. GM proved that a stretch midsize wouldn't sell with the Blazer and Envoy EXT.

Don't know why, but I would have to agree that they're very comfortable in back. The Hyatt I stay at all the time has free car service and they have driven me to the office in their Towncar L several times. In the back, there's even a switch to move the front passenger seat forward.
