Hilton HHonors - Hmm, stayed 1 nt and got 12 nts on account

Stayed at a property that shall remain nameless (of a brand that has a reputation for tardy posting.) At any rate, a 1-nt stay at the beginning of the month just posted and yielded 12 status nights instead of 1. Just wondering if it's worth going after the National Car rental bonus points or would the 11 extra nights come in handy for requalification? As the account holder requalifies by stays and not nights (and definitely not points), it's pretty much a toss up between nights and stays right now.

actually status can be made/requalified by stay, number of nights, or by points (gold and diamond).

I have a question, are you going to call HHonors and notify them of this mistake? The only reason I ask is, we often complain about problems during a stay, non posting or improper posting of points/stay credit, staff member issues, additional charges on the bill when you check out or additional charge posted to your method of payment after checkout. Most people would be on here looking for a way to fix the problem.

Now the the situation is flipped, why not tell HHonors there has been a mistake in which you benefited but shouldn't have. I'm not even sure they do this but, what's to say that the hotel won't reconcile what they sent to HHonoros/audit your account later and realize the mistake?

I have also received a very large number of points for an award stay for the room charges that the hotel bills to Hilton. So, yes, Hilton does make mistakes in the guest's favor, too.

I think you will have up to 12 months to dispute the record. So why not wait & see if you can requalify by stays this year, if not, then the extra nights might help you to requalify by nights. Otherwise, call HH once you are requalified by stays, and ask them to fix the record & credit you the car rental bonus points.
