This is great news for those of us that are HGVC owners.
I'm sure they will also offer Hhonors stays

from thread on March 17 06...
Hmmm... Ariel Sands was not a bad property. But I like the idea of having a Hilton-brand resort on my favority island. Though I am sure it would be next to impossible to redeem awards for stays there for the first few years after opening
PS: I've been in Bermuda at the end of August and as far as I could tell Ariel Sands was still operational and accepting new guests

I was doing a little web search and came up with this from
www.Bermuda-online.org :
The re-development of Ariel Sands is in limbo after a second group of investors fell by the wayside. The collapse of talks with the 'Eyde' group follows the withdrawal of the Hilton Group in 2007, and leaves owners of the Devonshire hotel forced to look for a new partner in an uncertain economic climate...Plans for the Hilton Grand Vacation Club were first announced in spring 2006, with Hollywood star Mr. Douglas said to have played a role in securing the partnership with the global hotel chain.
So, I guess, unfortunately, no honor points to save for Bermuda.

Part of the fall through is of course economic, but soon after the initial deal for Hilton ----- Four Seasons, St. Regis and Ritz Carlton and Park Hyatt all announced some interest and deals here or there. -- Hilton vs. those brands would be tough. Now Park Hyatt is pretty definite, and Ritz Carlton second with Four Seasons Third as definitive to proceed. St. Regis is no longer. ANd of course there are some other brands -- Jumeirah (new) and the old Grand Atlantic and the old Wyndham all to be redone.
