Hi,

I will be arriving into HKG with SWMBO at 4pm 14th April from BA and then departing with CX to MNL at 10pm.

Looking for suggestions on how to spend the 6 hours - was thinking of taking the Airport Express to Kowloon then taxi for champagne at Felix in the Peninsula. Back to the airport with time for another glass in the Pier or the Wing. Was going to do Felix last year, but we were staying in the Peninsula the day the BA strike kicked off last Summer, so had to leave early on SQ and didn't have the chance.

Currently BA Gold - OW Emerald so should have access to both Pier and the Wing (will be travelling CX J as well).

Does this seem possible in the time, or is there enough to do at the airport to keep us busy.

Thanks.

6 hours is plenty and it is a good plan. Your travel time to/from the airport is at most 2 hours, leaving 2 hours Felix time and 2 hours lounge time. Felix has decent bar food (in fact better than the restaurant food), however the Wing/Pier is catered by the Peninsula (so you can have the same food for free courtesy of the CX F lounges). However CX lounges don't serve the good champagnes (that is reserved for when you are actually on the plane flying CX in F).

As nice as the airport is, I'd vote for going into the city - even if just to walk around.

May I recommend visiting or having tea at the Four Seasons Hotel, which is right above the airport train stop at HK. It is only 8 months old. But do walk around the area (LK) and the shopping malls (IFC) near by. HK Island is always more exiciting than Kowloon...

Particularly if you are travelling without checked baggage don't forget that CX also has a Manila flight that day at 16:30, so if you arrive at all early you could have a go at getting on that one - CX at HKG is pretty good at "on the fly" reboookings. Arriving in Manila at midnight is never fun.
