Last year, I used the Citigroup Chairman promo posted here on FT to extend my HH Gold. I earned Gold the hard way, expiring in 4/06. By using the promo, it was extended to 4/07. But last fall, I got the dreaded downgrade letter (... you're not qualified ...) offering bonus points for a stay within XX days.
I did not get a stay in that period, however.
Because of the downgrade letter, and fewer stays during the year, I thought my Gold would soon expire. So I called HH to check about a fast track to maintain my Gold status.
I received a NICE surprise when I called! :D
The first question I asked was "When does my Gold expire?" The CSR (without any further prompts from me) replied "4/07"! When I seemed surprised (which I was) and said I thought it wouuld expire in 4/06 because of my stays, the CSR (again without any prompts) said that it was because of the "... promo applied last year ..."! :cool:
Maybe the CSR was not informed, or maybe because I did not take the bonus points, but it seems my Gold extension was NOT downgraded! I guess I'll find out in 5/06 if I'm still Gold!
