For Hilton Honors members there is currently (between 13 Feb and 30 Apr) a phenomenal deal on most Scandic Hotels in Norway and Sweden for those intending to visit between 22 June and 20 August.

The rates for most Swedish hotels (including those in Stockholm) the rate is EUR 27 per night. For most hotels in Norway, the rate is EUR 41.50 per night. Thse rates include breakfast and most probable the usual Diamond benefit of a coupon for SEK 100 per day for meals and discount on bar purchases.

The fine print: Bookings cannot be changed and are non-refundable.

The website says per person, but still a decent deal.

Cheers,

have never been to a Scandic hotel, of all the choices listed which ones are the nicest places, and give the best treatment to HH diamond level customers? also which are in locations most family & kid friendly?

thanks!

I recommend looking up the Scandic hotels which are changing from a Category 1 to Category 4 effective June 1, 2006.

27 euros for some of those is a great deal. Scandic Kramer is one that I routinely go for, even when I have meetings in Copenhagen.

It generally does, but the rates are not quoted per night per room but per person per room and it doubles for single occupancy. So the rate ist 54 Euro per room per night. Still a phantastic deal considering that the great Scandic breakfast is included.

It should be noted that Scandic hotels have single rooms -- sometimes that is all that is left. And in such circumstances where all the doubles are booked up, two people -- even where one or both guests are HHonors Gold/Diamond  -- might find themselves "secretly" sleeping in a bed made more for one than two people. It'll be a cozy night, at best, in such circumstances.

The Scandics are such a great deal, I guess they should almost be kept a secret... Who says Nordic countries are expensive?

The Scandics are cheap to allow you to spend more money in town :D . Scandinavia still is pretty expensive - even for somebody getting his earnings in Euro and Sterling...

I thought it was changing category in the fall?

You are correct. (It's October for Scandic hotel category changes.) Apologies for my mistake.
