i just picked up hawaii for my coverage and going to be there consistently every 4 to 6 weeks and when i'm there i stay for the entire week. i plan on staying at the hilton hawaiian village as much as i possible. my question for you road warrriors, have you ever tried to broker a deal when you are going to consistently be at a place? What I mean is talk to management and make sure they give you a good room every time and top service. Any thoughts or tricks someone else has done in a similar situation. thanks!

I make it a policy to get to know the General Manager at properties that I stay at regularly. It can't hurt. That said, I haven't negotiated any better rates but I do get consistantly better service and upgrades. :D

I do not think that you will have much luck in negotiating a special deal at a RESORT PROPERTY.
When I travel I use a corporate rate that has been negotiated based upon a committment to buy a specific (large) number of rooms. These deals are netotiated at both the (Hilton/Conrad) corporate level, and with individual hotels.
None of the discounts apply to resort properties.
If price is an issue for you, then you might try for a special deal at the Doubletree.

I doubt that any hotel is going to negotaite a rate for one week out of six, but just in case:

I agree with the sentiments here already - I have brokered deals before but only with 3 people, 2 of whom will be staying 3 straight months then away for 2 weeks back for 3 months ... and 1 who is here for 2 weeks away for 2 weeks here for 2 weeks ....
1 week in 6 is not generally considered frequent stays at a hotel. With my experience if it were just the 2 weeks there, 2 weeks away they wouldnt offer much of a discount.
But as always - asking the questions costs you nothing but could save you something.

I have no idea about one week out of six, or a resort, or even a Hilton family hotel, but I've certainly negotiated two separate one-night stays a week for a whole month with a hotel (in another hotel family) before, getting a better average rate than I could have gotten over the internet (it was a flat rate for each night, while the rate on the web varied from slightly below that to well above that depending on the week).
That's just 2 nights out of every 7, which is not MUCH worse than one out of six.
But, FWIW, this was after I'd already stayed in the same 2 night/week pattern for 2 weeks. And it was a midscale hotel which rarely fills up, not a resort by ANY means. :)
