J.Edward Mar 9, 06, 12:12 pm Wow, I think I've struck a nerve here. Any comments or insights from B6 board members? kdinino Mar 9, 06, 1:02 pm I think its a possibility, with flights to JFK and/or LGB to start, perhaps BOS as well. But then again, its a possibility. Yup, you've got some folks on the Jetblue board who clearly will bend right over ;) for Continental. Not sure why as again, these are airlines folks, not family members. jetblue-jfk-roc Mar 9, 06, 4:48 pm Hey J Edward, maybe sent them a shot from the ask me section of their website. They sometimes rattle off lists of cities.. can't hurt  ^ Welcome to the B6 board! iriefrank Mar 9, 06, 5:45 pm Funny how almost every reply here is from CO board folks. KGB Mar 10, 06, 4:08 am Yeah us CO folks must be watching B6 closely no? For my part my wife is Russian and her Mom lives in Brooklyn not far from JFK so while I preferred CO I almost always put her on the B6 flights when we could even driving one weekend to MSY to do so (I got my mileage run in on CO left the car at the Park and Fly Hotel). Anyway I digress but I am looking at the route map of B6 and from what I can tell they don't fly into fortress hubs in general, to whit: AA DFW/ORD/MIA nothing UA SFO/DIA/ORD/IAD only IAD CO IAH/CLE/EWR just started EWR last year NW MEM/MSP/DET nothing US PIT/CLT/PHI nothing DL ATL/SLC/CIN only SLC Lucky for me I am moving to AUS in a couple of months with a new job and B6 just started service there this year. I think they have a lot of other cities they would serve first before trying to break into a FH again (remember ATL?). They will cherry pick and IAH won't be a cherry for them IMHO. iriefrank Mar 10, 06, 10:38 am Yeah, but those hubs (IAD, SLC) are barly even "fortresses." They're much smaller hubs. B6 stays away from larger ones and probably will for the foreseeable future. prhs1989 Mar 10, 06, 5:28 pm Yeah us CO folks must be watching B6 closely no? They also fly to Denver, why is a United hub. J.Edward Mar 10, 06, 5:57 pm KGB, thanks for the response - I enjoyed reading it :) But I do have a follow up question for you. I do agree IAH may not be the "cherry" B6 is looking for but what about HOU? It's not the fortress and it is closer to downtown and the Galleria than IAH (esp. in the short term with 610W in shambles). After all, HOU's southern city location is not only poised to be more convient than IAH to the main centers but is also a boon for the Clear Lake/Galveston/Friendswood folks who have quite a drive up to IAH-dom....They will cherry pick and IAH won't be a cherry for them IMHO. oopsz Mar 12, 06, 6:21 pm WN owns hou. no ifs, ands, or buts. JFK-HOU on B6 *might* work (no WN competition to NYC), but LGB or BOS would be suicide. WN has a huge flier base in texas. |
