Hilton HHonors - Earned points during reward stay

Decided to edit out this thread. I don't want to screw it up for anyone else or myself.

Let's just say that I got a deal on a reward stay.

Something like this happened to me. I posted about it and was advised to edit it out; even if you keep the points, HH might might take steps that members in general might prefer not to happen. So you might consider deleting your post.

This has happened to me too, but not for nearly as many points as you got. I decided to keep it to myself rather than post it on FT in case someone from Hilton tried to figure out who I was and take the points away. You might want to edit your post to eliminate which hotel it was.

Edit: looks like Rove312 beat me to it, but had the same advice.

Lets not get into a "cloak and dagger" mode here :) .
Getting points on reward stays have been posted here multiple times over the last few years .. so the HH IT boys have been dropping the ball. :)

That said I have gotten points on five out of my last six reward stays, three of them alone wthin the last 25 days.

I've gotten points 4 out of 6 times, although only full points twice, on one night stays. The rest were just MY Way points, less then 1k.

I've gotten unearned points before. I had the desk fix my rate when I was overcharged for a room. I got points based on the incorrect higher rate; it had something to do with the way my bill was credited.

I onced received more than 50,000 for a reward stay. It was a nice surprise. ;) I certainly hope they don't know who I am.

I spent 160k points for 4 nights at the Waldorf=Astoria and got nothing.
The first time I think that I hadn't "earned" points for a reward stay.

It might have something to do with me not spending any money at the hotel?

The secrets out :) to get points on a reward stay you need to make a charge on your folio, even if its only $5. I have never ONCE gotten points whithout doing so.

You could have applied for a Hilton AMEX (no annul fee) and stayed for 125,000 points for 4 nights and gotten 10,000 points for signing up for the card.

Not if hes based in the UK, that benefit is for US address Amexs only.
