AirTran Airways A+ Rewards - A+ Rewards Availability Much Less Now Than Before?

It seems that availability has virtually vanished for reward travel. Have been tryting for 10 days to reserve and no dice. Months ago, there was almost always something available. The rout I want has plenty of flgihts daily (TPA-ATL). Could this change be due to all the Wendy's drink cup redemptions?? Becasue vouchers expire in a year, I am concerned that I wan't be able to use them before they expire. Last year, Airtran extended a voucher for me for 90 days so I could use it. Do they still do this?

I think this is a great question for this forum... I have never booked an A+ Reward myself but will be in the next few months and am kind of curious to see how easy that will go...
Judging from the fact that there are so few postings in the Airtran section of the forum, I don't know that there is a whole lot of buzz and activity around it.
However, your experience with unavailable Airtran award tickets is concerning for me and everyone else that is hoping to use their frequent traveler program...
Good luck and keep us updated on how your search goes!!!

About a week ago I booked three reward tickest BUF - TPA for the middle of July. We had to take an evening flight ATL - TPA on a Friday but got the flights we wanted for our return, a week later.
Yes, I do believe the Wendy's promo will affect availibility of reward tickets, thats why we booked our July tickets in February. We are going to try to make a trip out to Vegas ion the fall and I expect the ATL-LAS route to be a little difficult to book so we will book those tickets as soon as we can. I think the trick will be to plan as far ahead as possible for a while.

I booked IAD-ATL-SFO for early May about a week ago and got exactly the flights I wanted. Both of the 2 daily flights in each direction were available. I also checked dates in mid-May (this was before I had firmed up travel dates) and both flights in each direction were also available. ^

I already booked flights in Sept and Oct with A+ Rewards. These were booked more than 6 months in advance with no problems but we have heard because of Wendy's Promo, last minute bookings A+ Rewards are harder to get the flights you want.

AirTran has limited availability for A+ Rewards to start out. I am sure the Wendy's promotion has made it difficult.
Once a voucher is booked one has up to 90 days to use (fly) it from is expiration date. So, you can travel on a date beyond the one year from when the voucher was issued. The key is to book prior ot the one year expiration date.

What date range are you trying to reserve? If you're trying during spring break season, then I can tell you from experience it's like trying to book during Thanksgiving. :)

I called yesterday morning to inquire about seat availibility
IAD to LAx , 6/9 to 6/11
i was told availibility was there both coach and business classes
at 5 pm a coworker called to book the first leg in coach
things went fine
at 5:30 pm another coworker called to book the return leg,
and was told nothing was available
i had a funny suspicion that the agent wasnt on the ball
as that was too quick a time for the availibility to disappear
just called this AM
and got the return flight
both coach and business were available
so that was booked
so i'm unsure what happens as all the wendy's promos start to expire
but book as early as you can
i'm waiting for the flights to vegas during all star weekend are posted
i was told that would be in September

Excuse me for asking. What and when is all star weekend? We used to live in Vegas and not sure what you mean. We already booked our September flights to Vegas with no problems.
