Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Cairns in October

Need a recommendation for a reliable hotel in CNS for stay in October 2006 - ideally should be not more than AU$100/night. may be very basic as I don't plan to spend much time there except sleeping ocassonally :) also should be not very far as I plan to book some tours and it is essential that they'll be able to pick me up from the hotel.

Funnily enough, I am in Cairns as I write this.
There is a number of good hotels in the cairns area.
The tours operators will pick you up from just about anywhere - joys of competition.....

This is a local Australian site based in Brisbane and has some good deals going.
You can also google the hotels on wotif and ring them direct..they will usually match or even better the rate.

I would also have a walk around the hotels in the city center, sometimes the walk up rate can be very good. It does depend on if its peak season though.
