Please advise. Rudi Nov 14, 01, 6:23 am you are almost there already http://www.privilegeflyer.com/ Skylink USA Nov 23, 01, 12:46 pm Most people on this board probably already know this, but being an idiot, I just learned of this today. You can use miles to insure loss of them. Everyone probably knows about Award Guard, advertised on this website and mentioned in the above post. However, I learned that milepoint.com offers a discount for 2 year coverage. It's only $107 and 5,350 miles. That's less of a sting than the usual $214 (and no miles). wideman Nov 23, 01, 2:24 pm Is there an insurance company that sells insurance to protect our frequent flier miles? The people who run PrivilegeFlyer/AwardGuard appear to explicitly state that their service is not insurance. One or two recent threads in this topic discuss some of the possible benefits and risks of PrivilegeFlyer/AwardGuard. Any insurance (or insurance-type) program is based on the concept that, in any one year, relatively few of those who pay the premiums will suffer a loss for which a payout would be warranted. If you're trying to protect your miles in a large airline's program (for example, American or United or Delta), you might want to do some math before signing up for an insurance program. |
