Starwood Preferred Guest - 50POR Promotion and Le Meridien ????

Other threads have discussed the 50% off 50POR promotion. If I am reading the t&c correctly, the award reservation needs to be booked by March 17th.

The first date that SPG points can be used for Le Meridien is supposed to by March 17th. Do you think that it will be possible to use the promotion on Le Meriden properties on March 17th? It would be cutting it close for sure and there is no guarantee that the March 17th date is for certain. :eek:

Do you think the March 17th date is just a coincidence? Anyone plan to try to use this promotion on Le Meridien if things work out?

Well actually the web site says (bolding/underlining mine):

The Le Meridien brand was recently acquired by one of the world’s leading hotel providers -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. As a result, the Moments program will terminate on or after March 17, 2006*. At that time, Starwood has agreed to convert all Moments memberships and points into the award-winning Starwood Preferred Guest® program. In addition at that time, most Le Meridien hotels will join Starwood Preferred Guest.

*Once the precise date of termination has been established, it will be updated throughout and available at www.SPG.com.

So it's anyone's guess at this point as to if it's going to be "on" or "after."

But if Le Meridiens do become award bookable on the 17th...I don't see any reason you couldn't use your 50% Off Cat 1-4 at one of them. Depending at that point of course, if the hotels have loaded award rooms in the system yet!

My opinion is that it would be almost a miracle if they could pull this off in time for you to use your special award at a Meridien. I'd suggest you have a back-up plan in place for execution on the 17th, if you want to utilize the value of this special award.

Thanks PremEx. I do not think that this will be very likely to occur and if it does, it will be a "small miracle."

I know this is a little off topic, but can you use the 50POR for more than one room on the same stay? I need two rooms at the Dolphin in Orlando for one night in April...can I get em both on this promotion?
