Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Using AsiaMiles to upgrade within membership year?

Apologies if this has been addressed before:

Understand that MPC "miles/sectors" are used to determine status, etc., but AsiaMiles are the miles that one actually earns for redemption at a
later stage.
Just to confirm, therefore, assume I have earned 30,000 MPC miles so far this year, and membership comes up for renewal in September 2006. If I redeem some of the AsiaMiles earned (say 15,000) before then, are these subtracted out from the MPC balance while determining status. So, in September 2006, would status be based on 30,000 MPC or 30,000-15,000 = 15,000 MPC?
Obviously would not like to lose out on status just because I redeemed some of the miles earned so far...

Many thanks for any information on this...... :)

No, of course not. MPC status is on the Club Sectors/Miles earned during your membership year - it is totally independent of how many you have redeemed.
