Hertz - Strategies for using the 50% Ameniti Coupon on a WED-SUN rental

Ok, Im a Hertz newbie so be nice :)

Here's my situation I have spent about an hour trying to figure out how to approach. I have a business trip this WED-SUN and wanted to use the 50% off a Prestige rental I received in my Ameniti kit. There's no way I'll be able to use again for the most part, especially travelling to the superficial capital of the world....LA. So I know the coypon allows for a THU-SUn rental so i asked the agent on the 1800# if she could charge me full price for a Jaguar on WED-THU and then use the coupon for THU-SUN at 50% off. This cumulative price would be $20 less than renting my company negotaited mid-size boring car (about $325 all in). Agent says I would have to return to LAX on Thursday to pick up another jag to use for the weekend...the "system" won't let her do so.

This is why computers own us and something as rational and logical cannot be done. Is there any way around driving 40+ miles to return a Jag and then pick up a different Jag? As of right now, I made the reservation with the boring mid-size for now, but thought perhaps I should just wait until i get to LAX and explain the situation to a human being there and see if they can switch it around for me. Has anyone ever tried this? Am I SOL and should forget about dreams of rolling around the OC in a Jag?

Not an uncommon problem. Using week-end coupons on a rental that occurs partly outside the week-end always raises such issues. And I have never found a way around them.

There is some method to Hertz' madness. If you are the sort of customer who is happy to pay full rate, you will not go through the hoops required to use the coupon.

Fair enough--mid size will have to work for now. Im not that dumb that Id drive out of my way just for a better rental...Thanks!

Well you do say "There's no way I'll be able to use again" and as such I personally would drive back to do the exchange. Did you think about 2 bookings - first one for Mid size using corp rate then for premium using voucher??

40 miles in LA isn't that far for a bit of comfort IMHO.

See if you can do a one way LAX-SNA for Wednesday / Thursday (you said you were going to be in OC) It would be much closer to you.
