I need a car in Seattle (airport), tomorrow at 6AM through Friday at 6AM. Here are the rates the system is returning to me.
Tues 6AM-Thur 6AM - $55/day
Tues 6AM-Fri 6AM - No availability in any car class.
Tues 6AM-Sat 6AM - $49/day
Tues 6AM-Sun 6AM - $155/wk
So right now, I have the Tue-Sat rental booked. Rate code is STND. We already have threads about how absurd SEA daily rates are, so I'm not concerned about that...I am just wondering which of my three available booking options will yield the lowest cost at return. (It's a business rental, but I want to be at least somewhat cost-conscious.)
In the past, when I've returned a car a full day early on the standard daily rates, I have been charged only for the time I had the car. So that's why I think Tues-Sat should work best.
I only throw the weekly rate in there to show how much the rate drops if you keep the car until Sunday. I assume this has to do with space available in the garage (e.g., it's better for Hertz for you to keep the car out until Sunday), and that renting a Weekly and returning Friday would simply default me back to a higher daily rate.
And why the heck won't they just let me book a 3-day rental from the beginning? If that were there for $55/day, I'd book it and be done with it...
