Hertz - When Logging In Doubles The Price?

As a fairly infrequent renter with a gold card, I've noticed more than once a rental price that I've checked increasing by up to 100% when I actually log in on the site. It happened again this morning. I like to use the card mainly because I love the convenience of being dropped off and walking straight to my car with no muss or fuss.

Is this a well known "feature" of the website? Is there any easy way to over-ride it?

Cheers,
Fredd

Well, seriously you could just make the res, and then call Hertz to have your gold number added.

Sounds more to me like you have a bad CDP in your profile. Have you tried 706900?

Usually it is the CDP. You can still login, just delete the CDP from the price quote (no CDP) or use an alternate one like indicated.

Why didn't I think of that? :D

Seriously, thanks to both posters for your suggestions. Mrs. Fredd and I tried various combinations, getting everything from "no cars available" to widely varying prices. The 706900 code eventually worked quite nicely, although at the end of it all it said there's no Gold service at TPA anyway.

We did end up with a nice rate though, so thanks again. ^

TPA was reasonably quick when I was there in January. They use a common rental facility and do have a separate Gold line, though there was no one waiting for Hertz when I arrived.

Thanks for the info. My guess, then, is they mean there isn't the board with your name on it that allows you to go directly to your car?
