Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Beware No working power ports on new 777-300

I can't belive this. But I flew in J class on a 777-300 that was three weeks old, and the power ports are there, but not function. CX didn't wire them. This is amazing to me. Especially given the B.S. they print on their web site, on how they "don't take them for granted". I complain about it in this thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=529047
I wanted a seperate post to warn people before they spend their hard earned money, and they might not read the other thread and find out that the ports aren't operational. :td:

So how do you expect people to find out exactly which 777-300 aircraft doesn't have the power ports? Do you know the registration number?

CX should have 11 777-300s right now, all non-ERs. (They are the launch customer of the -300. ERs are on order).
Oldest delivered in 1998, newest 4/05, B-HNP. So, I don't know what the FA means about the plane being 3 weeks old.

I don't "expect" them to know. I simply was warning them that at least one aircraft does not have power. I couldn't see the tail after disembarking and clearling customs, so no I don't have the number.

Out of the 11 B773 CX has, only three of them are fitted with data port and laptop power (B-HNM, HNO, HNP). B-HNN being the only exception as it does have NRBC but doesn't have laptop power or data ports, the remaining 7 aircraft features the RBC which doesn't have any power or data ports to start with anyway.

I think the reference from the FA that the aicraft is 'new' because it has NRBC seats fitted.
Cigarman, I think you are most likely to have flown on B-HNN.

Not being a CX guy I think I get what you said. Basically there is ONE plane that has the Newer Regional Business class seat that HAS empower ports built in, yet they are not active. Correct?

Unfortunately I don't work, given that all the other B773 that has NRBC have data port and laptop power, therefore, this feature should be installed on B-HNN (which has NRBC) but might not be activated as you said.
Have a look at it.....

Cigarman, I share your pain - if CX is going to advertise as 'business traveler friendly' then they should make sure they're ready to support that. When I flew back from HKG with them last Nov, the power to my seat didn't work either. But I wasn't under the gun to have any work done when I landed. But because you come across as a Captain of Industry, you might consider investing in a 2nd battery for your laptop - if it were a necessity for my business, I wouldn't trust anyone else. Just a suggestion - no flaming...

I tried the second battery. Added way too much weight carrying two lithium batteries. I guess I got spoiled. Just like I still carry a phone cord, but I haven't had a hotel without high speed in perhaps two years... but I suppose they exist!
